We have stayed quite a few times. It's very well located and close to the centre of Banbury. We had a suite for the first time. That was great but the tv in the 'living room' did not work. It didn't even have any wires!

Hotel is in a lovely old building, nice central location. Reception staff were good, but no hotel information in the room, pretty average bed, toilet didn't flush, cold shower because I didn't have time to work out the controls. This is a general beef: why do so many hotels and tap designers think "style" of taps is more important than ease of use? Breakfast staff gave no information about how the Covid safe buffet works, so guests were left to work it out on their own.

Due to COVID, we have removed many touch points around the hotel, in particular the bedrooms to ensure guests safety. there is a welcome letter in every bedroom that explains what measures we have put into place to ensure guest safety such as removing guest directories and menus however it explains should you require anything at all during your stay to contact reception who would be happy to assist. We do also have an APP for the hotel which is advertised in all bedrooms, reception and public areas for guests to download which has our full hotel information, guests directory, menus and the ability to order food and drink from. I will raise your feedback with our Food & Beverage Manager in regards the explaining our breakfast service to ensure that all guests fully understand and feel comfortable during breakfast. Stayed one night in the hotel. In room 88 in the garden wing. Spacious room with view of the garden. Very peaceful. The taps could do with a bit of work and the room decor could do with a lick of paint but it was fine otherwise. Good covid processes. Lovely garden. Nice breakfast and helpful staff. Good parking facilities (don't arrive in a campervan though as the old coach entrance isn't very wide.

The positives far outweigh the negatives of this Lovely, characterful hotel. The staff couldn’t be more helpful, offering us a free upgrade on our room. The evening meal was delicious,And nothing was too much bother. Unfortunately there were a couple of negatives. The room we were upgraded so on the third floor, despite being a suite, was very tired, with black around the windows. The plug in the bath didn’t work (you were supposed to turn the knob to lift it up and let the water escape this didn’t work meaning we had to leave forte in the bath), the sink was designed to have a lifting plug-in, this has since been removed and a plug and chain put in its place. This led To the drainhole having no grid on it And subsequently me losing a ring when it fell off whilst washing my hands. Luckily not an overly expensive ring, so didn’t want to cause a fuss trying to get it retrieved as we where only there fir one night. There was no remote control for the television in the bedroom that’s making it useless. The sofa in the living area was stained cushions depleted and overall very tired. As stated before we didn’t complain because this was a free upgrade but if I had been paying for this, I most certainly wouldn’t of been at all happy. Breakfast was a standard hot/cold Buffet. Again nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either. I said before the fantastic staff, character of the original building, and location still outweigh the negatives.

I think a hotel without gin and failure to provide the fresh towels requested at reception speaks volumes. I was prepared to make exception given the state of the hospitality industry these past months, but to be told the hotel has remained open throughout the pandemic and that you were 'very busy' is indicative of a hotel that has lost the focus on customer-care. Not to be recommended to family/friends.

Not a great welcome from the front desk. Nothing was explained regarding dinner or breakfast and a smile would have been nice. The hotel it’s self is very tired and our room even more so. Our view of the cinema wall was depressing and made the alley way very loud at night when guests were returning. The bed was comfy but the rest of the furniture was really tatty and worn. It reminded me of an old butlins chalet. I feel they were understaffed during our stay which could have been a temporary problem or just how they are dealing with the pandemic? On the whole we were disappointed with our experience considering it wasn’t the cheapest. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Great location and lovely hotel in a historic building. Being an old building it has its quirks of course but the staff and friendly and helpful. The gardens and outdoor area are well maintained

Very disappointing. We (4 of us) had really looked forward to this weekend, how let down we were. On arrival the receptionist had a poor attitude. We were told there was no lift, Another member of staff then told us the lift was out of the building into the Garden Suite. I had previously booked dinner for Friday night at 7-8pm, We were told that as they was a coach party we would have to wait until 8pm for our booking. This we reluctantly accepted, not knowing that it would be 9.30 before a poor lukewarm meal from an inadequate menu reached us.

The room was ok a nice view of the garden, however the food and services for dinner were not of a good standard. The food was not very hot but the presentation was ok, firstly they had run out of two choice of the wine we asked for then chose a third and the wine didn't arrive at all, by which time we had eaten what we could of our dinner. the staff were friendly but unfortunately seemed inexperienced which was a shame.

Poor Experience For Business Trip

Booked executive suit and was completely disappointed. Room lacked any modernisation no USB ports to enable IT equipment to recharge and work whilst charging only 2 accessible 240plug sockets on opposite side of room and situated wrong . No fridge no desk, dressing table and wardrobe has seen better days, furniture worn, stained and in poor state and flooring unable to take single step without floor boards creaking. Breakfast was ok at best. Location was for for business in hand and semi secure off street parking was a bonus Definitely would not stay here again if I have a choice

I am disappointed about my stay mostly about the room that was offered to me. As a Diamond member of your loyalty program I have a room preference in my profile for a quiet room on the higher floor, as well provided that request on my booking. My 1st room was on the higher floors but facing the main street(noisy). I ask for a room not facing the street. As a result I got a dark room facing a wall. Between my room window and the other side, there was a home of a flock of pigeons. I never knew how much noise these birds make during sunlight hours. On top of this, my room smelled like bird excrement and a scent of cold cigarette smoke. I don't smoke. Although there were other rooms available that would have matched my request for quiet room, they were never offered. No I didn't ask for a 3rd room option, being to tired to get a room that should have been reserved from the beginning. The food was good, but the service was scattered and disorganized.

Superb service from everyone we met here. Smiling helpful and chatty. We were the only people in the restuarant for dinner, the waiter was superb and the food excellent. It was just a one night stay as we had a delivery to make the next morning but would seem to be an ideal location for a stay in the Cotswolds. Considering a longer stay once Covid restrictions are removed.
