Beautiful hotel with lovely character - we particularly enjoyed the full English breakfast in the wood panelled restaurant overlooking the gorgeous gardens. We recommend using the elegant original staircase rather than the staircase in the newer wing, as this is very tired.

Nice hotel, needs polishing to be an excellent hotel

It was very nice and a had a good time but there were just small little things that could of made it even better. The room was so hot so we didn’t sleep. Everything looked shabby and needed a bit of TLC. The staff also looked like they needed a bit more guidance of how to provide excellent customer service instead of ok-ish. We didn’t get told anything when we were there: what time breakfast is open until, when it shuts, when food stops for dinner etc, what time check out was, what time check in was allowed, it is just a lot of small things that could just things to be so much better and a better standard of hotel that costs nothing just being more on it. They also said they were going to do something special for my mums bday when I emailed before arrival and there wasn’t anything.

I only really visited to use the bath since I don't have one at home and enjoy the quiet, because I live next to a busy road. The hotel was nice enough, rooms a little dated. On the second night some buffoon left the news blasting until 2am until I pounded on his door, it's kind of annoying that in a basically empty hotel they didn't think to spread people out more. Overall for the price of the room I was happy with the stay, save the idiot watching news 24 the room was very quiet which was nice.

The receptionist and breakfast waitress were friendly and helpful. The room I was in might as well have been in with next door as I heard every sound. The savouries in the afternoon tea were fine, the scone and cakes were horrible. Unedible. What they did to the scone I don't know. It was like a rusk. It had been halved. Hard top and bottom and a softer bit in the middle. It had to be seen. I think that the kitchen had tried to warm it up. Probably out of the freezer. It, and two of the cakes went in the bin and the others had a bite then left. Shocking. Strawberries were nice though. The menu for breakfast was described as grilled.. No it wasn't. The bacon was cooked in the oven and not even cooked properly. Flaccid fat is not attractive. I think that the sausage could have been from the day before. Grilled mushrooms? I don't think so. I can cope with shabby hotels, in fact I quite like them so that wasn't a problem. I would stay again but I would be very careful what I ordered to eat.

We booked this hotel via the offer on Wowcher as a stop over for an early start at Bicester Village. Bed was comfortable and the dinner & breakfast was good. Staff were really polite and helpful and we felt safe with the safety measures in place.

The steps taken by the hotel to keep everybody safe seemed to be very effective. We felt very looked after from start to finish. Food was lovely and the barman was great! Our room was a little dated and very hot / stuffy. There was a fan in the room for our use, but didn't work very well. That was the only downside to our stay though - overall we really enjoyed it.

Our mobility and dietary needs were given in advance and these had been taken on board, so that when we arrived they were met. Our room had been well prepared to minimize the risk of Covid transmission. Throughout our stay all staff were very friendly and helpful. The main meals and breakfasts were of high standard and the waiter and waitress who served us were excellent.
