We stayed in the mews. The suites smelt rather damp and felt a bit shabby. Also they felt like they were just plonked at the back of the car park. It was a nice stay, but felt something was lacking. However, safety measures were very good.

Stayed for one night in a comfort room, which is in the annex. A warm welcome from reception on arrival. Paid £25 for parking. Fantastic shower. My only slightly negative comment is that there wasn’t much wardrobe space if you are staying for longer

We enjoyed our stay , receptionist was hit and miss room was not cleaned till late afternoon went back to have coffee no amenities rang reception 3 times no joy !! We had meal in Restaurant 1st evening very disappointing no Game pie so my Husband went for cottage pie it was a complete joke ! Dish was over spilled with gravy over priced £17 just with peas ! What a joke then they wanted £12 service charge on top of our bill ! Having said that on the second evening in the bar we had drinks and a bartender new us from the evening before didn’t give him tip of £12 in restaurant! So he gave everyone jar of nibbles in bar except for us with there drinks so he was very immature for a 7ft 20 stone man .

Booking with Secret Escapes made the experience good in that the price paid included parking and was about 50% of the normal rate. Breakfast was very good but spoiled by the Decaf coffee which was appalling. Would stay again at same rate.

I couldn’t fault any part of the stay, the reception staff to the waitresses at breakfast were so professional, helpful and lovely. We were also upgraded to the junior suite, it was an amazing room and we only wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you to all the staff and we will most definitely be returning once we are allowed.

Whilst the locale was excellent I felt there were some good points and bad points. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was spacious but the bed was uncomfortable. I am disabled and access is is poor. The food was expensive and small in portions.

Booked an executive queen room and found it to be very spacious and comfortable. Lovely shower and nespresso coffee machine and great comfy bed. Extremely quiet despite knowing guests next door to us so insulation good to allow a decent sleep. Very well located in the centre of Windsor and easy to get to Eton too. Breakfast nice and well organised in covid times.

We were made to feel welcome immediately by the reception staff. We had an issue with the bathroom shower, and it was rectified as soon as we left the room The only comment I would make, was I was surprised that the room was cleaned during our stay, as I thought the policy was not to enter guest rooms during covid

What a beautiful hotel. Staff very polite but so inefficient. Waited 45 minutes to check in as they randomly served others behind me. Got to my room to find the cleaners still there and waited another 20 minutes. Had to wait over 45 minutes in bar (during lockdown so table service) to order drinks when there were only five other tables. The TV signal was only good enough on two channels to be able to watch something. But the hotel itself was great, room good size with a large bed. Location great as it’s opposite the castle and 1 minute from high street or 5 from the Thames.

The hotel is in the best location in central Windsor, opposite the Guildhall and a stones throw from Windsor Castle. Plenty of great restaurants and cafes nearby and the main shopping street is round the corner. Parking onsite, with access to reception up a number of steps from the car park, so you might want to drop off anyone with mobility issues at the front door! Staff were ok generally, but the restaurant staff seemed rather rushed and grumpy at breakfast, hence dropping one star from this review. Breakfast itself was very nice, so it’s definitely worth including it in your room rate. The second star was lost due to substandard cleanliness, not dreadful but nonetheless noteworthy during a pandemic. The bedroom: hairs in the shower, bits on the carpet. The restaurant: had to move tables at breakfast because there was food on the floor making it slippery, with no response from staff once alerted, except a dismissive ‘I can’t see anything..’. Overall we were happy to stay at The Castle and would return if in the area, but please rectify the cleaning regime.

Our room was huge, really lovely, big comfy bed, very clean, nice coffee machine, no biscuits! Lol. Was a lovely selection of books to read about castle & royal family. We were disappointed with the full English breakfast, not very nice. We couldn't get parked in hotel car park which would of cost £70 for 2 nights, parked in multi storey called Windsor Yards which cost £40.

Booked via hotels.com, chose the "family tree house" as the most expensive room available. Hoped that this would be a nice suite with plenty of space, something a bit special. However upon arrival the gentleman checking us in informed us we had booked a "superior room". As we didn't need a family sized room for two of us, I didn't say anything and from his enthusiasm as to the grandeur of this "superior room" expected it would still be nicer than average. We were told our room was not ready, and wouldn't be until 4 pm, a little disappointed as we had travelled a fair way and wanted to put our feet up. However, during current covid situation accepted that perhaps the cleaning was taking longer than usual to ensure it was up to standard so undeterred we headed for a mooch around the shops. When we got into the room it was spacious, clean and had a nice view of the castle. However, only one decent chair to sit on (a stool the other seat option, with no back), there was no desk/vanity table, which you would expect as standard in my (average) experience of staying in hotels, to put on make up etc. Upon using the shower the inadequate glass screen meant the bathroom floor was quickly very wet. Storage was very limited, and the ironing board took up most of the hanging space. As it was fairly cold and rainy during our visit coat hooks would have been useful. The Nespresso machine was a nice luxury, as were the robes and slippers. We rang down for a small jug of fresh milk for our tea / coffee a couple of times during the stay and the staff were happy to oblige. For me breakfast was pricey but had all the elements needed, tea, coffee, toast, fruit juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, pastries, eggs Benedict, full English, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, proddige and cereal were all on offer. Table service only due to covid restrictions but I'm fairly sure you could have gone wild and there was no limit. On all occasions staff were friendly, helpful and polite, working brilliantly to make guests feel comfortable in a challenging environment due to COVID.
