Horrendous check in! No welcome as an Accor member, no drinks vouchers without asking, no idea what I was talking about re. the package I booked which apparently included boat ride which we couldn’t use as arrived too late and didn’t know we had! Location right on the high street so easy walking distance to attractions. Room nice. Breakfast good. Shame the check in ruined our experience……

The room was lovely and clean. windows opened, bed was huge and very comfortable. Food was cooked to perfection, there was only one option for veggie 'pre theater menu' but they were happy to replace with another . Staff were great and very helpful. Would recommend a stay here .
Very disappointing stay

Arrived at the hotel at 4.30pm on my birthday. Went up to our room on 5th floor only to find 2 maintenance men with the lock mechanism in pieces on the floor. "Why have they sent you to this room? We keep telling them it's not available!" Went back down to reception & witnessed argument between maintenance man & receptionist about this situation. Receptionist told us no other room was ready (at 4.30pm?!) except #114. We asked if it was a comparable room and she said "Yes, it's a Classic room, just the same" It was NOT at all the same! Room 114 was dark and small with no natural light & a non-opening window. The shower room was so tiny that my 6'4" husband really struggled to manoeuvre around it. We were so tired having walked that day on Thames Path from Marlow (14+ miles) & the other room was far from being available so we had to settle for 114. What a disappointing experience - even though I had informed the hotel in advance that I was celebrating my birthday. We found the hotel to be very poorly managed. We were supposed to have an Expedia VIP experience - throughout our stay, the hotel made us feel like Very UNimportant People. We had paid for Half Board. The first evening we were charged full price for dinner and had to point out the mistake. The second evening, despite having booked a table, as requested, on the online Resdiary, weeks in advance, we were initially told there was no table for us & then were shown to the very worst table in the restaurant, next to the Maple room entrance, with staff walking past us all night. Surely it's not difficult to put reserved notices on tables for pre-booked meals? Again, the full price of the meal was billed and we had the embarrassment of having to ask for the price to be corrected. Even housekeeping couldn't get things right. We had no soap and no English breakfast tea in our room - luckily we'd brought some with us. We paid a premium price for a very sub-standard service & would never return to this hotel again. An extremely disappointing birthday ☹️

The hotel is close to Winsor Castle in the main street and it has the best restaurant in town. But the rooms are small and located in an additional wing of the hotel that is hard to reach. The view is a parking lot. As others have said, the rooms are clean and well furnished but look ordinary. The shower floor is dangerous, to say the list. It is slippery and there are no handles on the wall.
