We had a great time here, nice room, great breakfast, wonderful sky-bar and restaurant, very friendly staff, etc. I didn't really like the beds. The drinks in the bar and restaurant are ridiculously expensive.

I stayed at the Sofitel with my Fiancè for 3 nights, out first time in Luxemburg after travelling around a feel other countries in Europe. We have to say that we loved it at the Sofitel, it became our favorite Hotel out of all the 7 different Hotels we stayed during our vacation. The service is phenomenal, the atmosphere and rooms are impecable. A very nice experiences to say the least. We will definitely be back. Thank You to all the staff!

This is our 4th visit to the Sofitel Le Grand Ducal and each time the service is exceptionally good, the staff are so pleasant and we were welcomed with such warmth. We had a junior suite and it was beautiful. Everything was immaculate and spacious. Our battery in the Bose entertainment system died next day was replaced and working. The bathroom had a rain shower and a separate bath with a tv in bathroom. Lighting mood choices for bathroom, bedroom and living room areas. Room service was restaurant quality. Christmas Eve given presents of panettone and drinks. Lovely view from bar looking over city. Fantastic stay.

I have been favoring Accor brands for a long time now and find them to be reliable. This hotel is no exception, though it was a bit of a trick to locate the front door and then it took a while for anything to happen. Eventually, a very nice young man from Australia received the car and took my baggage to the room. The room was fine, though having a shower in the middle of everything (some hotels insist on tubs) is one trend I hope will go away. I slept well and breakfast was better than average. What a view from the dinning room. Too bad it was closed for the dinner the day I arrived. I did, however, find a serviceable Asian restaurant a few blocks away. Here's the best news: the people of Luxembourg are wonderful. I arrived to cover the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge for my newspaper and spent most of my time in Vianden. Would return in an instant.

It was great overall. Very friendly valet service, concierge and the lady who checked us out. The only negative points I'd say are that there did not seem to be much recognition for Golds/Platinums (with this stay I would become Platinum). It would have been a 10/10 stay to get a nicer room/suite upgrade as the hotel was quite empty anyways. I stayed in 10-15 Accor hotels (over 30+ nights) in the past 2 months since November and nearly always received the top/Suite upgrade and a tonne of 'welcome gifts' (not necessary at all but they make for a nice gesture). Also didn't receive a table with a view in the restaurant that we had reserved for dinner at the Sofitel. Minor point as we were one of the later guests to reserve so I understand.

Too expensive for what it was

The hotel was a bit soulless with only the check-in on the ground floor. The top floor bar and restaurant were really nice and the room was nice but a strange layout with the shower in the middle of the room. The bed was OK but the mattress wasn't as comfortable as the Radisson Trier where we had stayed the night before and was a lot less expensive. The staff were helpful and friendly, the only problem was on checkout. There seemed to be a bit of confusion around the taxi we had ordered the night before. it was a bit chaotic. It was nice and quiet and the location was good but overall I'd say it was vastly overpriced for what it was so I wouldn't stay there again.

The hotel is nice and the staff generally friendly but it was an average stay at best. I stay in hotels almost 200 nights per year. Challenges at the hotel included: -Room itself, while nice, was not possible to control the temperature. So room was stuffy and consistently around 25-26 Celsius regardless of the temperature set on the thermostat. -The keys deactivated four times in the seven days I was there. They seem to be ultra sensitive and a co-worker had similar difficulties. -the process of securing taxis is disorganized and inefficient. One day we waited for almost 15 minutes when the concierge said to us “oh you don’t have a taxi yet?” -I found the bartenders in the upstairs bar to be pretentious and unfriendly. They seemed much more focused on talking to each other than serving the customers. -Charging 31 Euros for that breakfast is very unreasonable. It is fairly low quality with not many hot food options (and the exact same options every day) to charge that kind of price. -frustrating that there is nowhere to purchase a quick snack. One evening I did not get back from work until around 10pm and just wanted a snack like pretzels or nuts. I was told there were no options other than to order a meal off the room service menu. That is unreasonable.
