One of the nicer hotels in Yogyakarta, smaller with a more adult clientele than some of the larger hotels. Food in the restaurant is not great but it’s ok. Rooms are comfortable and the location is pretty central. Very pretty design around central courtyard and pool.

What a comfy, happy and memorable stay. My husband and I was staying for my birthday and the staff there helping his plan to gave surprises for me. Thx to mas Ajik and pak Sila who helped him with birthday cake in the middle of the night, thx to mba Jeje who helped him ordering flowers and also mba Defa who gave us informations about Yogya’s culinaries. Thank you so much The Phoenix Hotel and staff, you guys really amazing.

Maybe not. The atmosphere has gone since our last stay (2016). The hotel is very big, extended in an appropiate style, but it makes one feel a number. The room is standard for 4 stars, but gives a feeling of neglect and needs an upkeep. The airco is freezing cold, so you have to commute between bed and airco during the night. The breakfast is still impeccable with so many food stations, the lunch is good. Yet, next time we will try another hotel in Yogya.

After staying in excellent heritage hotels in Central Java (Plataran, Mesastila), checking in at this hotel was disappointing but probably understandable being in the centre of Jogjakarta. However, the attention and service of one staff (very sorry not to get his name) at the restaurant more than made up for it. Being lactose intolerant, he remembered to provide alternative milk for our breakfast today and even provided a proper bowl of youghurt for my husband. He had a spoonful (!!!) of yoghurt dsy before. The hotel also kindly provided us a very early breakfast at our room as we had a very early flight to Bali. We had the same staff getting us our breakfast and remembered to provide us the items we missed the day before. Many thanks to him. Full marks for the hotel service. Beautiful hotel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
