Fine location, effective check-in [Had made it webwise) clean and rather small room because of the furniture. Very good breakfast, nice bar and above all a very good staff this time. It seems impossible to get a room with 2 sep. beds, only double beds offered. Never comes to grip with the stupid window from room to bathroom, weird. BUT, - your good staff make the difference.

We stayed in 4203. We are not complainers at all, but simply had to. The room had hair in the bed, there were only partly the amenities and then there were like these stains on the carpet. We did however change room which were nice. Although, some of the TV channels did not work and we had to wait to get seated for the breakfast. Staff was really nice though.

1. I did an Internet reservation on your own web page, when i arrived to do the check in at your hotel I found out that the kind of room i had chosen wasn't available (according to the manager of the hotel that kind of room didn't exist !!??) Staff not very kind. 2. I tried to go to the spa and it was full! No option to use any of the services. 3. Bar not comfortable, small, closed, no views to the "alter wall" winter (that is right next to it). 4. Queu in the morning to have breakfast (15 min waiting to get in the restaurant on Dec the 28th) 5. I decided to book Sofitel again after a incredible experience last summer at Sofitel Siem Riep in Cambodia. Big deception with Sofitel Hamburg. I already have another reservation for February at Sofitel Bogotá through booking.com, I am rethinking that reservation after Hamburg's experience.

Pros: The room was well designed and nice. Location is outstanding and very convenient. Cons: Dirty carpet with too many old dirt spots. One of the heaters in the room does not work and couldn't be fixed.

Good as usual. We do the staycation in Sofitel Alter Wall yearly as our own Christmas tradition to just relax and rejuvenate even though we live in Hamburg. Just love Sofitel beds. And also to end each year on a high note. See you on 2021.

I have stayed at Sofitel Hamburg several times due to the nice location and good breakfast. There is, however, room for improvement of the service level. I needed to call the reception during my stay. The first time the telephone was not answered. I tried an hour later and this time the phone was answered but disconnected right away. It seems that there is an urgent training need for the reception staff. Further, not only Sofitel Hamburg but also other hotels in the Accor group make a very good effort to destroy the value of the loyalty programme. It is extremely seldom that an upgrade is granted. I have tried it I would guess in less than 5% of my stays, and I am after all a Platinum member. It was also not offered this time in Hamburg. Maybe it is to bothersome for the reception staff to adhere to the rules set up for the loyalty programme?

Once again I am wondering how it can be that this hotel differ from all the other Sofitels we have stayed at. A five star hotel requires 5 star staff. It is easy to enter the hotel without any recognition - that is different from other 5-star hotels. The spa area was during our stay all day long a playground for kids, and nobody else but the male masseur pointed it to the parents. That area should be a place for peace and calm. And idea could be to make a specific 2 hours kids-time and after that no kids. As it is in the moment they are welcome from 6.30 to 17. We partly chose the hotel because of the lovely spa facilities. But will not do that again.

Six of us had a weekend stay - form Uk and Australia. Hotel was very welcoming and rooms were excellent. Comfortable and clean and pretty quiet from outside noise. Breakfast was great and so easy - though it did get busy later in the morning. Good variety of food for all requirements including gluten free. We also had a quick lunch in the bar before we left which was also very tasty! Location was superb, right by the Rathaus so we managed to catch the tail end of the Christmas Markets as well as have a tour of the Rathaus. Will stay here again.

HEATING WAS NOT SUPPORTING THE NECESSARY AMBIENT TEMPERATURE AND WE SUFFERED FROM HEADACHES BECAUSE OF THE LOW TEMPERATURE. THE REPLY FROM THE FRONT DESK WAS THAT THE HOTEL FACED PROBLEMS WITH HEATING AS THE SYSTEM WAS DAMAGED. HAD WE KNOWN THIS THROUGH THE HOTEL'S SITE UPON BOOKING, WE WOULD DEFINITELY CHOOSE OTHER OPTION, BUT THIS WAS NOT DISCLOSED TO THE CUSTOMERS AT ALL, MISREPRESENTING THE SERVICES WHICH WERE NOT UP TO STANDARD.
