Stayed for 2 nights and our stay was very comfortable and pleasant The staff are very friendly and they guided us very well on where to go and what to do Special mention is Charlie who is the manager He made sure that we were very comfortable and asked us to contact him at any time should we need to. Packed a nice breakfast for us because left so early in the morning. Will surely return to this hotel. Just need a wider variety of vegetarian food both in room service menu and at breakfast

Our family of 8 recently enjoyed a relaxing stay at the Sofitel Chengdu Taihe in 3 Prestige Suites with daily Club access. The facilities were great and staff helpful when requests were made of them. Our only disappointment was to be initially allocated rooms on smoking floors when we had clearly requested a high floor with non smoking preferences - as is the case with our Accor Live membership profile settings. We arrived late in the night so there was no Accor Ambassador to help with the check-in, the overnight staff seemed to be a little overwhelmed by the lack of suitable prestige suites available - we were initially told that there was only one such type room on every floor - however upon checking on the fire escape diagram in the room you could clearly see other room configurations in the suite class setup. In the end they managed to bump one of the groups from the 7th Floor up to the 18th Floor. The others remained on 8th and 10th Floors respectively. Its annoying that in this day and age that hotels are not completely smoke free - passive smoke smells are not a great for the guests or the hotels ambiance and class.

I almost had a perfect stay. The services we received were world class and the food was great. The only thing is the swimming pool is under renovation so can't be used. Also due to the renovation, there was very strong smell for the gym as well. Other than that, we has a great stay and will stay again in the future.

Rooms are well appointed and clean. Everything in the room worked. The service was outstanding, especially house-keeping. The staff at reception, concierge and restaurant were equally prompt and efficient. Breakfast is good with a wide selection of western and Chinese cuisine, and nice coffee. Our pre-request for a non-smoking floor was granted. In fact, the whole hotel is non-smoking, which is a rarity in China. The hotel may be relatively old, but very well maintained. Overall, a very comfortable and memorable hotel stay. Would definitely return if visiting Chengdu again.

The Chengdu region is a very interesting area to visit. This is the third time to stay at this hotel in the past three weeks. It is a great hotel with a, great central location, five star accommodation and extremely helpful staff who were only too eager to help and advise regarding scenic attractions and nearby restaurants. The perfect hotel.

This is my second stay at this hotel and it was just as good as the first. The building and the rooms are very nice and I received an upgrade to a junior suite, which was very welcome. The executive lounge is one of the better ones I have experienced and the complimentary food and drinks were to a very high standard. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and made my stay a real pleasure. They are a real credit to the hotel and the brand. One tiny gripe is that there was clearly so minor celebrity expected at the hotel on the second evening of my stay and despite the fact that he/she/they had not arrived at the hotel yet there was a welcoming party by the elevators who had the job of stopping us mere mortals using them, just in case the VIP turned up. I actually find it very offensive, as a very loyal user of Accor hotels, to be treat as a second class citizen. Apart from that, I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is dated and is in need of a refurbishment. The breakfast buffet spread was not up to expectation. We received a room upgrade and was grateful for it. Location of hotel is not bad as it is relatively near to places like Kuan Zhai Alley and Chunxi Road.

At a Sofitel, you'd expect a premium service and product. The staff here were eager to help, good manners etc. (especially Hotel Manager, Kim) but the actual hotel is old and run down a little, certainly not 5 or even 4 star level. The sauna is a small room with visible dirt (mud, broken pieces of wood etc. under the seats) and the rooms don't have operational AC!! I was in a suite and it had an AC dial but did not actually do anything to the temperature as it is centrally monitored (21 degrees, which makes it too hot for me to sleep). The hotel manager got housekeeping to open a window for me but the hotel is close to the highway so even at a high floor suite, it was noisy. The Sofitel Club is an absolute disappointment, apart from the high floor, the rest is poor from food to drinks. The normal breakfasts in the lobby is far better. Overall, the staff was trying to be helpful (not very good English unfortunately) but the Hotel itself needs to be renovated or downgraded to a 3 star.

The Sofitel in Chengdu is located just a short stroll away from the city shopping central area and Tianfu Square. I'm sure though with the construction growth of Chengdu this will become prime position in years to come. Hotel was immaculate. The pool and ajoined gym area was clean and inviting but I barely had time to just take a photo. What i did enjoy was my upgrade to an executive suite. Previous review mentions of dated furniture seem unfounded or are out of date. This had quality furnishings and a soft comfy bed I am accustomed to. Perhaps I should have tried the pillow menu. But this level of hotel was a step up from my usual so I wasn't disappointed by the standard. The one thing that annoyed me was a lack of seating areas in the foyer front area as i waited for a friend. But that's clutching at straws. This still was a grand hotel area welcoming arrival. Breakfast had a great selection catering to multiple cultural perspectives. Juice selection was so good.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sofitel Chengdu. Staff were great and the room was nice and clean. The hotel is very well presented overlooking the river and is beautiful when you step inside. The room was excellent, sparse and plenty of features. The concierge was helpful and assisted with taxi's and directions. A great stay and felt well looked after by the team at the Sofitel Chengdu Taihe.

Good Hotel with the best valuable promotion for the junior suite. The price is less than 500 RMB per night after discount with breakfast for two people. The Hotel location is also very close to the business center. The Hotel Carpark is free for the guest.

Treated like a criminal

The moment we checked in we were told we’d been given a room upgrade. In fact the suite was what we had booked and paid for in advance, partly so we had lounge access. The evening before checking out, the duty manager phoned our suite asking me to verify we had paid. The hotel’s finance department could not find a record, due to the fact they had changed accounting systems in the nine months since the booking was made. That should not have been my problem, and the hotel should’ve ensured it had proper systems in place for the changeover of their system. I was able to find a bank statement on line to confirm the payment and showed this to the duty manager. But this was not the end of the issue. On the morning of checkout, front desk staff called another manager. He again asked to prove we had paid in advance. This time it was done at the front desk with other guests nearby. That was very embarrassing. Again I showed a bank statement as well as the printout of the online booking. I was told my credit card authorisation would be held until the finance department could confirm the following day, as this was happening on a Sunday. Although an apology was eventually received by email the following day, with the offer to ensure we receive special treatment if we stay again, it doesn’t make up for the hotel’s failure to have proper accounting systems in place and for the embarrassment of being accused of not paying for accommodation. This reflects poorly not only on the hotel, but also on Accor, whose website was used to make the booking. We are unlikely to stay again, despite the standard of the accommodation and the hotel’sclocation.

This really is a very nice, clean and well appointed hotel. My room was excellent and the breakfast was very good with a great choice of very good quality food. So, so far nothing remarkable, it is pretty well what you would expect from a Sofitel, however, what made this stay exceptional for me were the people. Everyone from the reception staff, to bar, to lounge to restaurant people were unfailingly helpful and exceptionally friendly. They are a real credit to the hotel management and the Sofitel brand. They really made my stay a pleasure and I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel or recommending it to others. The only slight downside I could see was the location, which probably isn't the most convenient for walking to amenities like shops etc. (although there is a nice walk down the river bank), but the metro is close and so it is still pretty easy to get about in this lovely city.

Will not return. Will not recommend.

Staff did not recognise Accor Elite status at check-in. Elite members usually receive a welcome drink, a welcome letter from the hotel manager, late check-out offer, and possibly a room upgrade. None of this happened to me. Worse, I was allocated a room facing a construction site. Location wise, although it is located in the city centre it is not really walkable to anything except a subway station. There are absolutely no shops or restaurants nearby. Room is also compact. I will not return and cannot really recommend this hotel to anyone.

Stayed on 20th floor so had a good view over the city. Room very comfortable with good lighting. Excellent service in the buffet restaurant with a wide selection of tasty dishes. The hotel was within comfortable walking distance of a Metro station.

- The staff that handled my check in marked the start of bad staying experiences. I had used my Accor points to book the room but the staff insisted that I had to pay the full price for them. He made nasty face at me when i try to explain. No apology was offered even after he checked and confirmed that no payment was required. - Room is nice but was shocked to be told that they do not provide spoon or stirrer in the room. Wonder how they expect the guests to make coffee/tea. Lack of attention to such basic detail was a let down. - Ordered in room dining twice. i’ll give 2 out of 5 for the food.

I had stay one night there with my points of Acoor and never stay with Sofitel before. It was really disappointing experience with them. It's not worth to pay around A$160 stay with this place and better avoid it. There were many issues of my room: 1. The mattress is very hard and unbelievably discomfort. 2.The safety locker couldn't lock it at all . 3. No cold water at bath tub. 4. The toilet didn't flush well. The staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly.

Club Lounge only opens from 12 noon so no meeting room for a morning meeting and club services. Breakfast was poor except the excelllent chef at the noodle bar was trying to save the situation. Room upgrade for Platinum member to a mini suite was good but not generous. The food during lunch at the Chinese restaurant was however suprisingly delicious and the AccorPlus value was superb. Overall a good stay at the end supplemented by the good value lunch.

We were happy to stay in this hotel during our stay in Chengdu which is near to the subway station and can be easily accessed to most important sites by subway or rapid trains. The hotel is a bit old but the maintenance is good. Most important of all, the service is excellent from the minute we arrived till we departed. We are lucky to meet Ricky, GM of the hotel who hosted us as dearest friends that make us feel like at home. Besides, all the staff had provided very courteous service to us, especially Lena, Light at Executive Lounge, Zara, Lisa of the Japanese restaurant, Emily, LI Wing-heung the cleaning ladies and Chinese noodle chef, Mr. LUNG who served guests very courteously and cooked the most delicious noodles. Ricky has been lead a great team to do the good job. Thanks.Last but not the least, the Japanese buffet dinner provided at Fuji Japanese restaurant is very good and should not miss. Whenever I visit Chengdu again, I will stay in this hotel again.

We had a great stay here in Chengdu. The family promotion for a second room at half price is a great value and we had the upgrade on the loyalty program so we stayed in 2 suites. We also had access to the club lounge which was great for coffee and dinner. Highly recommend to anyone staying in Chengdu.
