A high-end oasis of calm in the geographical centre of Berlin

Novotel Berlin Am Tiergarten is located right on the edge of - well - Tiergarten; Berlin and Europe's largest inner-city park with its trees, lawns, lakes and restaurations and bordering on the Berlin Zoo. Surrounded by office/university buildings and the park itself, the location is remarkably quiet at night despite being in the very center of the city. Kurfurstendamm with its upscale shopping, hotels and nightlife is within walking distance - or 2 stops on the S-Bahn (metro) which stops 100 meters from the hotel entrance. Right at the opposite edge of the park - a 5 minute bike ride away and visible in the distance from the pavement outside the hotel, stands the Brandenburger Tor with the Reichstagsgebauede (Parliament) and the Unter den Linden avenue close by. The hotel itself is quite new (ab. 10 years old), and exemplary clean and well kept. It is fairly large for a Novotel and, while the standard rooms are basically "standard Novotel" qua size and bathroom facilities, the building and common areas - including the parking garage - are more spacy and generally of a somewhat higher standard than usual with this hotel brand. Typical "4 1/2 star" level. The staff, from reception to restaurant, are highly efficient, helpful and service-minded. As a frequent visitor to Berlin since 1986, I have over the years stayed at a number of the city's most upscale hotels. But since discovering the NBAT back in 2012 this has become my regular stay in the city, a place I always look forward to returning to when coming to Berlin be it for business or [p]leasure.

Don't go, don't stay there :) as we just wish to come back as soon as possible and stay longer. So please, leave some empty room for us to book with no price increase as it is most convenient and the best quality stay you could find in Berlin. Not to mention the free parking streets around the area.

I very much appreciate fir the warmthful welcome by the front desk manager even we reached the hotel in the early morning before the check in time. We were offered to leave our luggages in the hotel and were guided to explore nearby attractions. Location is adequate, breakfast delicious, staffs friendly and room cosy. Definitely will return. Keep it up.

This hotel is just one station away from Zoologischer Garten and offers nice rooms with a newly upgraded gym section. The staff is friendly and the hotel is mostly clean. Breakfast is over priced and having stayed at the hotel several times before i real disappointment. No chef making omelettes anymore at the counter, open cereal bowls where kids puts their hands, no bottled mineral water and a lack of full grained bread. All this was offered in the breakfast room before. So, my advise is, take the S-bahn to Zoo and eat breakfast there.

I would just like to point out that there is a sign on the buffet that our chef makes the omelettes in the kitchen and our guests may order them at the waiter. Sorry for not making this clear enough. We definetly have not stopped this service. At Novotel Hotels in Germany, there is a new bowl concept with more cereals which we offer our guests. Booked this hotel as an Accor member but also based on reviews. Appeared a little isolated upon arrival but is only a 10 minute walk through the Tiergarten to all the amenities at Charlottenburg (Zoological Gardens is the next stop on the numerous S Bahns that pass through). Similarly easily connected to the main station (2 stops beforehand) and depending which line you take, to various other stations where you can connect with the U Bahn (U2 is at Zoological Gardens and connects to many things around Berlin). So not as isolated as first impression would suggest. In fact, turn left out the hotel and a good walk (30 mins) finds you at the Brandenburg Gates. In terms of the facilities, room was extremely well appointed: very comfortable bed, crisp linen, big European pillows, tv had a facility to switch dubbed shows back into English (only did it once but assume it works on other programs). Liked the bathroom and toilet being separate. Had a meal in the restaurant. Staff were extremely attentive and price not too bad for a hotel. Reception staff were equally attentive upon arrival and whenever queries about hotel or any other services nearby. Early start next morning and there was free coffee available and a tv where you could check news, weather and flight departures and arrivals (including gate numbers). Clearly aimed at the business customer. That said, location near to Tiergarten and train line wins over need to have cafes and shops on doorstep. Perhaps not suitable for families but great for couples or solo travellers.
