Dirty and inaccessible room

The room was absolutely disgusting, I have stayed in better hostels for £7! I expected better from a budget hotel but this experience has put me off ever staying in an IBIS again. The carpet clearly hadn’t been cleaned, there was dust and dirt and someone’s makeup pencils on the floor. The dust continued - the TV, desk, mirror. Everything was dusty. As someone with asthma this is the worst environment for me to sleep in. I have photos of how gross it was. The mattress protector and bed sheet didn’t fit the bed and kept coming off when I moved. I asked reception to change it and no one did. We were there two nights and left with bedding that didn’t fit (the mattress protectors band was snapped) so I had to try not to move much so I didn’t touch the stained and dirty mattress in the night. The window didn’t close - the lock was broken and it would swing open at night, meaning it was cold when we woke up. Our room cards failed every day and we had to keep going to reception to ask them to sort that. Not great for people who booked an accessible room due to mobility issues. The accessible room was difficult to get to, it was down the end of a long corridor that had a door that is kept shut on the evenings. Despite my own disability, I had to push and hold the door open (causing me more pain and fatigue) so my friend could get his wheelchair through. The door to the accessible room was also a manually opening door. Awful. He struggled to open it on his own when I was not there. When in said room, there was not space for the wheelchair to move around the bed, meaning it was stuck on one side. This restricted his physical mobility to get onto the bed from the chair, and there was no electrical socket on that side of the room. So he could not charge his wheelchair. On his way home from the hotel, his wheelchair died and he had to order a taxi. It’s the worst hotel either of us have ever stayed in, and on our return trip next month we will be staying somewhere that isn’t filthy and doesn’t claim to be accessible when it’s not.

We had a great stay but there are a couple of things that need improvement. 1 mould on spare pillow and pillow case. 2 The bacon on the breakfast was rock hard so you even get your knife through it and one of my sausages was hard all the way though it. 3 the toilet in our room 115. The toilet flush would not flush properley you had to flush it four or five times before it would flush.

A cheerful check in. Had to change rooms because of plumbing and TV reception problems. The room and bathroom pod were clean, although it did not receive any attention (bin emptying etc) over my 3 day stay. It was a bonus that I could open the window and also I could get an internet signal. Breakfast was poor. Food had been cooked quite sometime earlier. Bacon was rigid and scrambled egg old and cold. I appreciate things are difficult at the moment but the charge for this 'breakfast' is excessive. However the service and coffee were fine. All in all, I found the Ibis good value for money. Clean and cheerful.
