Dirty and inaccessible room

Customer review rating 0.5/5

Maria N. Couples - 19/06/2021 Confirmed reviews ALL

The room was absolutely disgusting, I have stayed in better hostels for £7! I expected better from a budget hotel but this experience has put me off ever staying in an IBIS again. The carpet clearly hadn’t been cleaned, there was dust and dirt and someone’s makeup pencils on the floor. The dust continued - the TV, desk, mirror. Everything was dusty. As someone with asthma this is the worst environment for me to sleep in. I have photos of how gross it was. The mattress protector and bed sheet didn’t fit the bed and kept coming off when I moved. I asked reception to change it and no one did. We were there two nights and left with bedding that didn’t fit (the mattress protectors band was snapped) so I had to try not to move much so I didn’t touch the stained and dirty mattress in the night. The window didn’t close - the lock was broken and it would swing open at night, meaning it was cold when we woke up. Our room cards failed every day and we had to keep going to reception to ask them to sort that. Not great for people who booked an accessible room due to mobility issues. The accessible room was difficult to get to, it was down the end of a long corridor that had a door that is kept shut on the evenings. Despite my own disability, I had to push and hold the door open (causing me more pain and fatigue) so my friend could get his wheelchair through. The door to the accessible room was also a manually opening door. Awful. He struggled to open it on his own when I was not there. When in said room, there was not space for the wheelchair to move around the bed, meaning it was stuck on one side. This restricted his physical mobility to get onto the bed from the chair, and there was no electrical socket on that side of the room. So he could not charge his wheelchair. On his way home from the hotel, his wheelchair died and he had to order a taxi. It’s the worst hotel either of us have ever stayed in, and on our return trip next month we will be staying somewhere that isn’t filthy and doesn’t claim to be accessible when it’s not.

We had a great stay but there are a couple of things that need improvement. 1 mould on spare pillow and pillow case. 2 The bacon on the breakfast was rock hard so you even get your knife through it and one of my sausages was hard all the way though it. 3 the toilet in our room 115. The toilet flush would not flush properley you had to flush it four or five times before it would flush.

Comfortable choice

A cheerful check in. Had to change rooms because of plumbing and TV reception problems. The room and bathroom pod were clean, although it did not receive any attention (bin emptying etc) over my 3 day stay. It was a bonus that I could open the window and also I could get an internet signal. Breakfast was poor. Food had been cooked quite sometime earlier. Bacon was rigid and scrambled egg old and cold. I appreciate things are difficult at the moment but the charge for this 'breakfast' is excessive. However the service and coffee were fine. All in all, I found the Ibis good value for money. Clean and cheerful.

Not very satisfied with our stay. 1) We had booked two rooms for a family, but we were put on different floors. We asked to have them at least on the same floor, and they found a room. But it smelled like cigarettes. We told them, and they moved us to another room. The new room wasn't very clean and didn't smell great either. The second room wasn't clean either. 2) It was a warm weekend, and we needed to keep the windows open. But there was a lot of people passing by and rather loud. Also, this is next to the police office and you can when they start the signal. 3) The staff seems to try to be nice. When I've tried to get coffee, one of them almost shouted at me that I should first pay before I touch the coffee machine. I've stayed in many Accor hotels, but this was the least enjoyable.

I arrived late Friday night. Was greeted at the reception and talk through all the covid precautions that they where taken eg. Booking slots for breakfast and no housekeeping. I was given my key card and toldd how to get to my room. In the morning told how breakfast would work. Was sent an email before checking out stating how to check out safely and within an hour of checking out was sent an invoice. This is a well run hotel. It is in need on a little updating but no big deal as it was in a good state of repair

The hotel is very basic and has limited amenities, but in good location and very close to overnight parking for just £3. I didn’t pay a lot for my room so wasn’t expecting a fabulous room, but would have been disappointed if I had paid more.

Great location, friendly staff, doing their best to keep the residents happy during these awkward times for all. The cleaning staff, especially the lady who did the 3rd floor during our stay was more than happy to help with fresh towel etc. Only slight gripe is lack of parking but I knew this when I booked and made alternative arrangements.

Always happy with stays here, but moved to point out that the staff who are always friendly continue to offer a warm friendly welcome especially during these difficult covid times when there is so much uncertainty.

Very pleasant stay, loved the token of giving me some chocolate to welcome and thank me for being a Silver Member. Great location and usually very good value for money when booked in advance - looking forward to coming back!
