We stayed just for one night and didn't get the breakfast. Overall, the place met exactly our needs: a clean and comfortable place to stay in Zürich for a short time. The check-in and out were really easy and we have no issues during our stay.
Poor staff attention

Room was as expected, and location was ok (the area was not turistic but it has the tram in front of the hotel, 18 minutes from the center). Staff was rude and not very collaborative. At the time of the check in, I paid for the breakfast. The following day, I asked where to head to take breakfast and the answer was a simple: “No”. I asked, how come no?. The lady at front desk , in a very rude mode, asked me to wait. After several minutes, she went to the back of the front desk “to get my breakfast”, a “take away” one! I refused to take it as I was not told that was the way of serving breakfast. At the same time, the advertising screen behind her was clearly showing that breakfast was a buffet “a volonte”. She tried to lie to me, saying that due to COVID, that was how all Ibis in Switzerland was serving breakfast, which is not true, as I stayed in Ibis Lucern the night before and they served buffet breakfast! She also tried to make me believe wrong COVID measures of the country, not knowing that I live in Switzerland and I am very well informed. After arguing with me, and blaming me that “I should have asked before paying if the breakfast was a take away” ( as if I should even imagine that!) , I finally managed to get my refund.
Room clean, good for a short stay

For a short stay the room is fine, it is clean and has the basic necessaries. The breakfast was due to Covid restrictions awful. Received a paper bag with the most unhealthy awfull breakfast I've received in a hotel. When I was staying during the pandemic in other Ibis Budget hotels we had to provide a timeslot for breakfast, select upfront on a list what we would like to eat, and we received it on a tray. The selection was then also limited, but you had a choice and it was a proper breakfast. Not the horrible stuff I received this time.

We are very satisfied with our stay in the hotel. The main reason for that is the nice and kind personal on the reception desk. Some other points - the location is very practical, the hotel is clean and the rooms are clean. First small unpleasant thing that we had is the sheets with blood in the first room. It's not so nice especial in Corona time. The second bigger unpleasant thing the we experienced is the contact with the management... We are traveling to Zürich because of the medical issues (doctors, appointments..) and we have already stress with that. Because of our situation and the weather condition our appointment was changed and I tried to cancel our booking but I was only few minutes late. Nothing helped! My emails with explanations and offered proofs , phone-calls from my 11 years son (in that moment my wife and I couldn't phone) couldn't changed the situation. We have to pay the the amount or we can change the date for one day. I suggested to have that payment for the next time but.... nothing. Only short sentence from Sophi - repeating again that cancellation after 14 o'clock it's not possible and she is sorry for that. I know that you can say: the procedures are so and we can do nothing...etc., etc., but if your procedures are over the medical and problematic situation of the people and you are following the written procedures like robots.... than the guests are not on the first place on your list.... But I gave the number 8 and we are satisfied with our stay because of the kindness of the personal on the reception desk. In that stressful day they helped us... Thank you Friendly regards R.
