Bad Experience, Charged $277 when I didn't stay

This hotel has hundreds of rooms and is next to one of New Zealand's largest private hospitals. I had booked for 5 nights with the hotel. I was having heart surgery. I was staying pre surgery in the hotel and after surgery. In between my husband was staying there on his own. I was due my heart surgery the day after checking in. When I checked in and went to my room there was no opening windows at all. I could not afford to contract COVID or any other air borne illness before heart surgery. I went downstairs, explained the situation about heart surgery and asked for a room with an opening window for ventilation. I was told the hotel has no rooms with opening windows. I had booked and paid for 5 nights, I paid extra for it to be fully refundable. I had to check out. They only refunded 4 nights and charged me one night at $277. WHY? We then had to go out and try and look for alternative accommodation at a time when I should have been stress free and relaxing before surgery. If a hotel with hundreds of rooms has no opening windows, this should be made clear on booking. After all Covid is not a new respiratory illness and they are right next door to a Hospital so it makes sense that patients will stay there prior to surgery and after surgery if they are from out of town like I am. I wrote multiple emails re this matter but have go no where. I am still $277 out of pocket.

All the staff members are very friendly. Only the car park was always full that I cannot get a park when I'm back in the evening. I hope the hotel would reserve some parks for the long stay customers with an Accor Plus Platinum member. I have been there for 10 nights and staying in the hotel twice a year, mostly 10 nights or more. I am a loyalty customer to the hotel being more than 10 years.

We had dinner in the restaurant and the service was very slow. It was busy and maybe not enough staff rostered on.
