ibis Cardiff Hotel 3 stars

I did the check-in with the manager. There was no warm welcome as I usually experience at other Accor hotels, no smiles at all, that was a red flag. Then there were missing items in my room, the room condition was poorer than what I have experienced so far at other Ibis hotels. The covid-19 measures are not very clear and a bit confusing in the hotel. But I think the rudeness of staff including the manager puts people in the defensive as I have witnessed that was the case with other customers. I am not sure that the approach used by the hotel staff is the most efficient to insure the safety of their premisses. I have been using Accor hotels for years in different countries because I had great experiences so far, and I believed that the quality standard was quite coherent across all Accor hotels. However, I am questioning that belief now.

Clean room etc, but more basic than Ibis budget (even though I paid more money - thinking better facilities (More fool me)) from decor to no usb charging point in rooms. Due to COVID, restaurant food is served in takeaway packaging and this also applies to bedroom coffee/tea making, no information in rooms re local sights, when breakfast will be available the next day or how to access wifi etc. Staff were friendly enough and could provide information if required when asked - not informed at check-in. All in all, a very basic hotel with very limited amenities and dated decor!

Comfortable budget hotel. Furthest from railway station of other budget hotels. Well managed covid protection and cleanliness. A reduced rate rather than the paper bag very economic breakfast. It certainly was not value for money at £6.

Only a weekend stay but as ever completely satisfied. Unfortunately certain facilities are not available,this of course totally understandable. Staff well trained in requirements of guests to follow guidelines.

Perfectly located, great size room, comfortable bed. Couldn't have asked for anything else

Waited 10 minutes for the reception staff to come out of their office watching videos to check me in. The lift was broken so instead of being on a quiet floor as i was staying on business, I was placed on the second floor where when i got to my room there was already a party happening in one of my neighbours rooms. The bar was also understocked and the rooms were dark and uncomfortable. I was woken up at 3am by a group that had been out partying, when they knocked on my door repeatedly.

The hotel is well located near the town room was clean. The room could have had cups in the room with tea and coffee to go with the kettle.

great location and friendly reception staff. We arrived to find a broken bathroom door but was given another room swiftly. The bed was super comfy but the main thing that let out stay down was the noise level from the cleaners first thing in the morning. Very loud banging around and didn't feel they were being considerate of guests staying there. Given that check out was not till 11 i was frustrated to be woken and kept awake from 8am.

Location is perfect.

Rooms were basic a bit dark and dated. Could hear noises from corridor and other rooms during the night. Twins beds were small and close together. Didn’t realise there was no free parking at the hotel and NCP nearby were very very expensive. (We parked at the Capitol overnight for £5 but was a 5 mins walk with all our luggage)

We were a group of 4 returning from Snowdonia to London, deciding to spend one night in Cardiff along the way. Ibis Cardiff provided an affordable and conveniently located place to spend the night, which gave us time to tour the city centre for the brief time we were there. The takeaway breakfast was somewhat pricey for what it contained, which is really the only complaint I can give. The stay was otherwise comfortable and enjoyable for all of us.

We are regular customers and always enjoy our stays We stayed for 2 nights on this occasion and as always the hotel met our expectations, the staff were friendly and helpful and covid 19 restrictions were easy to follow We will always recommend this hotel Jeff & Karen H.

When we booked there was a cooked breakfast advertised. When we arrived there was only a tasteless cold breakfast. Breakfast at ibis is normally one of the highlights. Tea from a cardboard cup was horrible. The apple was inedible. It was straight out of a very cold fridge. The other ingredients were uninspiring. There were no proper cups in our room. The television seemed to be stuck on ITV and we could not even change the volume. We asked for a change of batteries for the remote as we thought that was the problem. No information on how to get secure wi-fi. Please respond to this, or we will use your complaints service.

Room was fine, would have liked to have known that the room would not be serviced whilst we were there. Also nothing advised as to having cups for use in room. Take away breakfast looked very poor.

City visit, great central location, clean rooms, basic necessities, decent sized rooms.
