Mercure Bordeaux Cité Mondiale Centre Ville Hotel 4 yıldız

Notified few days before travel there was renovations and no dining in hotel, we were guaranteed only noise 11am to 5pm. The rooms were unfinished, exposed wires, uncovered fire alarms, smell of paint and nowhere to hang clothes. Given good location we did not complain as we were celebrating my husband birthday and has his elderly parents with us. Were woke at 7.15am with drilling etc. That day we were told they had to move us to a sister hotel which was 10 mims walk, not ideal but ok. We packed and got in taxis hotel supplied but were brought to hotel 43 mins walk away to an area we avoided to stay in my choice. We also were charged for this taxi ourselves. New hotel staff rude and unwelcoming (Mercure St.Jean), the parents room did not even have a window but a skylight. There was nowhere to eat after 10pm and we felt unsafe in the unknown area. The parents not comfortable with trams and too far to walk we had to get several taxis a day at our expense. Ruined what was meant to be a special weekend. Hotel finally replied to my complaint asking me for a receipt for taxi which of course we did not get and offering me points worth €40, we paid almost €1000 for this stay, never mind all the additional costs we had. I would never stay in any of their hotels again and will be seeking to take this further.

All the AC systems were broken in the hotel. Management deliberately hid this. Extremely humid due to lack of ventilation and bathroom. Windows could not be opened. The location was good and the staff were polite and helpful. However, I would advise avoiding this hotel. I was charged twice by accident too.

We chose this hotel simply because it was closest to the river where our river cruise ship departed. It was a long day of travel with a transatlantic flight and train from Paris down to Bordeaux. We just used the hotel to sleep before our river cruise the next day. The front desk staff were friendly, the bed was comfy and the bathroom was clean. It served its purpose, although I wouldn't want to stay here for any more than a night.

We travelled as a small group of 12. The reservation was handled wonderfully by Camille and, on arrival, all our room keys were ready for distribution. Check-in lasted all of 2 minutes! Rooms were modern with nice shower room/WC and Privilege Rooms had a small fridge with comp soft drinks. Great TV, Shame the restaurant was closed on a Sunday but that was more than made up for by the beautiful breakfast room on floor 7. A great selection of cereals, fruit, breads, hams & cheeses, with lots of nice jams and spreads. On departure, we needed to store our bags. No issues. To round off my summary, the staff were all brilliant. Not only efficient but very friendly and really helpful. I plan to return in the Spring and will definitely stay at this hotel.

We chose the hotel for the location. As we drove to Bordeaux, getting to the hotel was a little complicated and parking in the nearby public car park was not cheap (but nowhere is in central Bordeaux the hotel staff told us). Staff were friendly and professional. Room clean and reasonably spacious. Breakfast buffet on the top floor had a fair spread and great view of the Garonne. NB: it was at the tail of a heatwave when we visited and air con worked.
