Mercure Chamonix Centre Hotel 4 gwiazdki

In our three months in Europe this was the WORST service we ever had. We just loved the look for the hotel and oh what a dream location! BUT the staff were appallingly rude. My husband is a Diamond Accor member and we had to wait until almost 4pm to check in to our room!! We had requested an early check in but they simply did not care. Throughout our stay we had to climb over cleaning equipment and piled of sheets etc in the hallways outside the rooms…they were often still there at 4pm! On our second day we went out from about 9am until around 2pm and came back to find our room had still not been cleaned. ANd despite numerous conversations with the manager…we recieved no apology and no follow up after we’d left!!

1. Most, if not all, rooms have their own private balconies. These face either the back of the hotel, ie. facing the same range of the Alps as Aiguille Du Midi and Montenvers (the cable cars can be seen from the balconies), or the front of the hotel, ie. facing the city centre and Brevent (another arm of the Alps?) . The block of tree trunk which serves as a stool is very heavy! 2. It is located adjacent to the Chamonix MB train station. It is 3-5 minute-walk away from the town centre, McDonald's being one of the first easily-recognised indications. 3. The hotel interiors are mainly oak (like Ikea type): doors, table, shelves, wall fixtures. Personally love it, esp. the designs being flat and square. This was much more practical and pleasant to the sight compared to 'new' 'urban' furnishings where pieces were oddly shaped and placed. Would certainly seek to stay there again if returning.

The room was nice, clean and bathroom looked to have been updated fairly recently. The staff in the restaurant were lovely but the receptionists could be a bit more helpful and friendly. Requested a print off of our bill the night before check out so we could go through it to be told they can’t print it off and could only tell us the amount- which seemed quite odd to us. It’s a good location to walk into the town. We stayed on a half board basis, the breakfast had a good selection and the coffee was lovely. The evening meals were nice but there wasn’t much selection - only about 4 different main courses, okay for us as we were there for 4 nights but I think any longer you would get a bit fed up of having the same over again.

We stayed at the Mecure Hotel Chamonix as a family of 4 (11 & 14) Hotel was spotless, staff very helpful and great bar area with comfy sofas, games and pool table. I would highly recommend this hotel for family’s wanting to ski and be in Center of town within a few mins walk. My only improvement would be to vary breakfast choice, it was all very good but a bit boring on the 05th and 06th morning.
