The room was large but the grout on the floor in the bathroom was dirty and the bottom of the door had pealing paint. Breakfast was included in the room, I realise COVID-19 has changed the landscape of food, buffet etc. However I asked if I could have an omelette and was told no. Only what’s on the menu. I had scrambled eggs with added tomatoes, I would not have paid $18 for scrambled eggs and then the added tomatoes. I think they are trying to be “ niche “ but not sure that is appropriate for the hotel. Just my opinion.

Due to COVID, we spent more time in the hotel than we normally would over a weekend. We had 3 breakfasts and 3 dinners. Food was outstanding and great price with the ACCOR discount. Our room was great as it was large enough to spend time in. The Novotel is close to all tourist areas as well. We visited the War Memorial and National Museum.

Due to all things COVID my monthly visit to Canberra was placed on hold, it was good to be back In the Novatel again for a visit with my work. There was a few changes around the hotel but this is all to be understandable during this different environment we are all living and working in. I was impressed with the changes the hotel had made to accommodate the COVID SAFE PLAN for the building so please keep up the great work.

I was very pleased to be back at the Novotel Canberra. As always the staff were informative and helpful. No nonsense service with a smile (at least with their eyes, considering they were wearing masks for the benefits of their guests). Clean, tidy rooms and common areas. The service and welcome at this hotel is one of the best across the Novotels I stay in around Australia.

Great central location. Pleasant efficient staff. Very comfortable well appointed one bedroom apartment. Excellent breakfast given the current Covid situation. A little disappointed that a complementary upgrade to a suite was not available due to the current situation. Much appreciated the provision of a bottle of wine and best wishes for our friend’s birthday and our wedding anniversary.

A Bit Rickety to Start

Turned out to be a lovely weekend after a few hiccups at the start. Firstly tried to book room service but no room service also the phone in the room didn't work. So had to use our own phone.Tried to book the restaurant via the app no good booked out. Rang reception to find out where to eat after driving all day they suggested ring the restaurant direct. The restaurant had a booking for 7.45pm which was perfect. The meals in the restaurant were lovely Jay our waiter made the experience even better. It was my wife's birthday and Jay made her feel so special so thank you Jay for a lovely evening. Another hiccup remote for TV stopped working had to have another brought up. Probably the biggest disappointment was the $27 a night to park your car. Considering you have to drive there and there is nowhere else to leave your car I think $27 is a bit steep.

In regards to the room service, it is a concern for both guests and the management. We are as eager as our valued guests to start the services ASAP but we are restricted due to the pandemic. We would love to have all the services back to normal but we had to give the priority to the safety of our guests and staff. It can be frustrating at times when hotel facilities fail to function but technical equipment's are sometime out of our control, having said that our engineering department has looked after it and will not be a problem at your next stay. Also the remote is one such gadget which might have a usage that can exhaust the batteries but its just a call away. With the car park, it is one of the best options you might get around Canberra as it is centrally located, in the property, is safe, 24/7 assistance, with multiple entries and exits, it also is comparatively nominally charged around the vicinity. Having said that we do agree that our valet services have been erratic but we are left with limited resources due to the crisis. We hope circumstances change to normal and we get the opportunity to serve you better at tour next stay. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback. Invited to have an upgrade but was disappointed with the room

It is understandable that it can be frustrating on knowing that you weren't receiving the services you are entitled for. Although it was one of the bigger rooms, we are just a call away to fix things you found inappropriate.
