ibis budget Lyon Sud Saint Fons A7 2 stars

Free parking with the gate need your own code to open. Booked & paid in advance, check in online but also can do it at the door with a machine. Room no & code provided. See no one during the stay as we don't take breakfast. Standard Ibis budget room, a double bed with a bunk bed but I don't appreciate that I need to make up the bed, there's a kit with extra bed sheet, blanket & pillow inside, on top of the bunk bed. Room is clean but need some fresh paint, shower's joint area was quite orange, need some good products to clean. Overall, it's good value & a comfortable stay.

I had two nigths booked and once I was there I decide to cancell one of the nights. If I would have enough time I would have cancelled both.Noisy, expensive, insects in my room, cold, etc. It is sure than the hotel takes profit of the Lyon exhibition center. The same hotel in another place they will have problems of booking.

We used this hotel as a stop off wasn't expecting luxury for the €52 as it was only one night. The facilities are good and usable there is a snack and vending machine in the un maned lobby. Car parking is secure behind a electric operated fence. But no rear entrance to the hotel. Room was clean at first sight but once settled in needed a good dust down. Air con is useless these machines need servicing (check the pics) Also see the maid the next morning just airing the bed sheets out the window.?

The five of us stayed here for an overnight stop en route to Spain, so needed two rooms. We arrived at 9pm with nobody on reception yet the door wasn't locked so anyone could just wander in (no security gates to get through to get there). We checked in electronically which then showed our rooms were on the top floor (with no lift) which was in the roof as a third of the room was the sloped roof so our window was a roof velux. This was the same for the other room. Perhaps kids staying at Granny's for the weekend would find it fun, but it made it feel cramped and I walked into it a couple of times during the night as you can't avoid getting near as have to go around the bed and the gap is on the sloping side. Worse still, the air conditioning in both rooms was terrible. It was a very warm day but the air con just didn't blow out cold. We have stayed in other Ibis Budget hotels which have had adequate air con, but this was useless. The room wasn't particularly clean with lots of dust and grubbiness, and was quite tired and shabby with poor finishes with pipe coverings etc. When about to check out, I found a grey pubic hair under the pillow. I don't have grey hair, or anywhere near it and my hair is very short, much shorter than the hair I found. To make the second day of our journey easier, we 'treated' ourselves to breakfast. What a mistake that was. The selection on offer was very poor and the quality was the same. There were only two cereal choices, and only two bread choices on offer too with one being a sliced brioche bread and the other just white sliced. Hardly continental. The croissants were awful. When first there, there were only a few overcooked croissants left and it took a while for more to be brought out, and what were brought out were also overcooked, and cold! Not very French is it. There were just two cheeses with one being quite unsuitable for kids, no hams or anything else savoury - just some lame fruit cocktail mix which was poor and meant you couldn't choose just one of the fruits and a yoghurt which was tasteless and an Apple fruit compote which was like something you give a baby. Worst breakfast I've had at a hotel. I appreciate these are budget hotels but we have stayed in far better Ibis Budget hotels and 'budget' shouldn't mean unclean, shabby rooms in the loft with poor breakfast (which was an extra cost and not a 'budget' cost at that).

When you book into an Ibis budget hotel, you know what and what not to expect. You'll have everything you need but not much more, same goes for this place. Rooms are practical and clean, service is bilingual (not a given thing in France) and there's a free-of-charge fenced parking lot. Wifi works just fine. The only backdraw was a bit of a lag in renovations...the walls looked somewhat dingy with their scuffs and stains, but we didn't mind all that much.
