Best value in town ?

I have stayed here a few times. Its clean, great location, comfy beds, rubbish water pressure in the bath. This a motel style property, and dont expect 3,4 or 5 hotel stars, but you get great value for your money. I Will be back. Walking dustance to most attractions in town.

Good stay, but shame about the lights being on all night

The hotel was very conveniently situated and the rooms had all we needed. The grounds of the hotel were also very pleasant. The staff were all extremely friendly and efficient. I did not appreciate the light on outside each room (on the access balcony). It seems to be very un-environentally friendly (even though I was told they are all LED) and the light shining in through the curtains and round the door frame meant that I got very little sleep on the first night. The second night we wedged the curtain into the door slightly, which helped a bit. But I see no need for all the lights especially as there were also security lights on at each end of the walkway. If lights are really necessary then motion-sensitive lights would be better.

Good motel style hotel.

Stayed in the Ibis Irving Street whilst visiting to see the Commonwealth Games so price was more than I would have expected to pay for what I got but reasonable in comparison to what others were charging during the games. The hotel is motel style with rooms accessed directly from outside, the rooms although basic were spotlessly clean and comfortable. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, and on check - in seeing my mum was using a stick made sure we got ground floor rooms. The location is great only a short walk in to the city centre, or £5 by taxi from New Street Station, and looks to be plenty of parking on site.

Uncomfortable bed

Good location, but the bed was so uncomfortable. Mattress and its topper need replacing. I wouldn't mind considering this is a budget hotel, but we didn't pay budget price. A twin room cost £190 all because the Commonwealth Games were on. You'd hope with a 200% increase in price you'd get more for your money but nope. Breakfast wasn't even included. Here's hoping they use the extra money customers have paid this week to improve the rooms.

In serious need of a face lift!

Firstly I would like to comment on how lovely our welcome was to this hotel! The staff here are so lovely. I stayed here with my Mum whilst seeing the Prodigy at the 02 Academy - this is the perfect location! Around a 3 minute walk to the venue. Although the staff and location are 5 star this motel-style hotel is seriously outdated and needs a massive upgrade! Our hotel room interiors and the main reception / bar / breakfast buffet area were so old-school and run down. I also found the grounds of the place neglected with dead plants and rubbish all over the place. We even had a rat run past our room the morning we left! For the very expensive price we paid to stay here (down to the Prodigy performing at the venue down the road that night I assume!) I expected 100 x better, this definitely was NOT value for money. A real shame as the staff and location are perfect!
