Well located but noisy

I had a clean, functional room and have stayed here several times. It is well located to food and Central Station. The buffet breakfast was delicious and had numerous options. However, I found the hotel quite noisy and the lifts were very slow. I did get charged $123 for drinks at the bar which I did not attend. The hotel was good in refunding it but perhaps the bar staff should check they have the correct person before charging it back to the room.

We had a lovely 5 night stay at the Mercure Sydney. Love staying here as its location is fantastic being close to Central station & light rail. We were fortunate to get an upgrade to the 13th floor which was really appreciated. Took advantage of the indoor pool. Buffet breakfast has always got a good selection & dinner in platform 818 is always very good. Staff here are always very friendly. We just had one issue & that was with the tv. Were were unable to watch free to air channels for the 5 nights as after watching something for 15 minutes it would suddenly go of & a google screen would appear & say a change to your account requires that you sign in again. We had to turn the tv off & start it again only for the same thing to happen again. This was very frustrating so we ended up not watching the tv. We reported this problem twice & actually was at reception the 2nd time when reception rang maintenance & told them of our problem. It still didn’t get fixed for the 5 nights we were there. We still enjoyed our stay here & issues happen with hotels. We will definitely return.

Easy check in, on arrival in entered the entrance with stairs so the staff came to help us with our luggage to the check in desk. Staff was friendly at the reception and at the buffet breakfast

The room and facilities were a little tired. Pool was barely warm with a steep three flight climb to get to it. Sauna had no ladel in the empty water bucket. I asked for one but 40min later no response...could be burnt/ splashed easily. Cafe is just a basic bar. Kettle didn't turn off automatically. No toilet brush. Convenient spot. Pleasant staff.

So easy arriving by train from Canberra then only 5 min walk to the hotel. Pleasant and warming welcome from reception, was delighted with my premium city view room on a high floor with wide circular windows. Buffet breakfast was bountiful and delicious. Will certainly like to return!
