From the greeting at reception to the smiling housekeeper, Novotel Brisbane made us feel very welcome. The "Pantry" dining experience was superb. Although the facility may be ageing, the welcome and friendly service more than made up for ay minor defects. Well done, Management and staff.

Great check in experience and comfortable room. Would have preferred not to have an interconnecting room as the neighbours were very noisy until 1am but that is unfortunate.

The room was a bit smaller than I expected but was comfortable. It was clean and organised well. When we checked in, we were very tired as we drove all the way from Newcastle and there was no one to take our luggage to our room. It was a bit disappointing. We always get help when we stayed in other hotels around the world. It was difficult to locate the hotel in the city and so we rang the hotel and even they could not show us the directions to come.

Room was Ok but was disappointed with the meals - breakfast service was lacking, plates not cleared, not sufficient clean plates or cutlery on 2 out of 3 mornings, no staff to assist. Over 1/2 hr wait for barista coffee order. Quality of food presentation well below experience of other Novotels. Room service dinner meal was nothing like what was advertised on the menu and was cold when it was delivered, so didn't risk going to the restaurant. Attended a conference there- coffee machines were always needing service, no staff to assist.

Accommodation was lovely. Catering was very luxurious too. I requested gluten free and vegan food. I am very lactose intolerant so do not want to take in any dairy because of that. The second or third day, the written menu listed a tomato salad with bocconcini in it as "vegan, dairy free, gluten free." Assuming it was regular bocconcini, that was definitely not vegan and diary free and completely mislabeled. There was also a potato salad listed as either dairy free and vegan but it looked suspiciously like there was parmasean cheese in it and I did not want to take chance knowing that there was something else that looked to be mislabeled. Those details are important, the distinction between vegetarian, dairy free and vegan. Good care needs to be taken in listing the characteristics of the dishes! Also, I ordered the "tamale" with room service and got a good laugh at that. A corn on the cob with the husk on is still corn on the cob. A tamale is something else! (Masa flour formed around a filling.)

We based our stay after researching the restaurant menu only to arrive at the hotel and discover the whole menu had been changed (on that day). The previous menu had lots of desirable options and the new menu is not inviting and feels as though its targeted at higher more fancy end. Our Internet was that weak were unable to watch Netflix so we decided to watch an in house movie only to discover the system was not working. This was also the case on Sunday night. The front end team did up our wifi speed (so we could stream Netflix) which begs the question why didn't we have that speed in the first place?

Check-in and check-out was seamless with no delays, service was prompt and professional. I feel the bed needs to be either rotated or replaced as it was too soft and appeared old with the top layer of fabric on the mattress loose and buckled under the sheet. The shower foldback glass results in water spilling onto the floor - causing either the bathmat to become soaked or slip hazard if a bath mat isn't placed on the floor - perhaps some type of silicone strip needs to be applied to prevent the water spilling onto the floor?

Check in was fast and simple. I arrived close to 11pm but had no issues at all despite initially estimating an arrival time much earlier on the day. The room was nice and clean, bed was comfortable and the location of the hotel easy to get to. The gym facility is fantastic for hotel standards, equip with a power rack.

Our room was double booked, so we were downgraded from premier floor to level 11. They did this without informing us that we would not be in a premier room like we had paid for, and it wasn’t until I said anything that they decided it’s appropriate that we received some stuff to compensate. The buffet breakfasts we received were good, but i was still very disappointed that it required me to actually ask about our room, as seemingly they were happy to just let it slip if we hadn’t said anything. The bed we got was also broken on one side which added to insult to injury.

Overall I found the Staff great, my room was comfortable and meals were very good, although this trip was for business as an Accor Member I have stayed at many Novotel properties and this one is my preferred choice when I travel to Brisbane. The only negative comment I have to make is with the housekeeping during my stay. It may only be simple things but it does make a difference. No breakfast menu left for me to put out for day for morning two. On the second day there was a dirty teaspoon left on the bench, dirty bath mat on the floor, no breakfast menu left for me to put out for morning three My card did not work to activate the lift, the staff member who booked me in was new and did not activate it, slightly embarrassing when you are in a lift full of people and the message from the lift recording is that your card is not authorised.
