ibis Paris Bastille Opera 11th

We recently stayed at the Ibis Opera Bastille, 21/07 to 25/07. I have to say, it was a really pleasant surprise. The rooms are small, as are the bathrooms, but it's all you need from a city centre hotel. I would just note though, that our friend was doing her hand washing in the bathrooms, and it really is too small for that (though the hotel does have an ironing room on floor 4!). We stayed in the middle of a heatwave (which was also the finale to the Tour de France) and the aircon was pretty decent. Our aircon leaked really badly on day 3, and even though we were told it was fixed, it wasn’t. This was annoying, especially having to move at 9pm at the end of a LONG hot day sightseeing, but to be honest, they did move us, and they did it quickly. If only they had actually fixed it, or moved us, in the morning! We had B&B, and the breakfast was really decent, and I would recommend this option for the value, and ease of planning your days: fresh fruit, yoghurts, pastries, preserves, meats and cheeses; your basic continental. Tea / coffee and juices came from machines. During the weekend mornings, it got SUPER busy, and this impacted on availability of clean tables, as well as clean cutlery / glassware etc. I know every hospitality venue is struggling with staff post Covid, but it was, on one morning, quite bad. But out of peak days, no issues at all. The hotel is in a fantastic location, on the 5 line (orange), and you have 2 stops both literally 5 minutes walk: either Richard Lenoir, or Breguet Sabin. You can easily get from the airport on the RER 2 line (blue) changing at Gard do Nord. The whole journey takes around 60-90 minutes. For tourists, get either a 3 day or 5 day pass from the machines at the airport train station for all zones. This will get you from the airport into town, then all around town on the Metro (or the bus, or the train), and out the other side to Versailles if you wanted… The immediate locale to the hotel is full of little restaurants and bars. It’s really typically Parisian. On the Saturday morning, there is a proper open air market selling EVERYTHING. There are boulangeries, and patisseries, and in lots of the cafés, lots of local were sat out having their breakfast or a coffee or their dinner them; always a good sign! There is an amazing Carre Four nearby, with all manner of things that Parisians clearly just take for granted, but most other people would think a bit ritzy (I love looking in other countries supermarkets, and am usually disappointed…). It’s a short walk then down to the Place de Revolution (where the Bastille once stood) and the river, and then you could walk along the river into the city centre. Or get the Metro… So in terms of location, value and amenities, we deffo will return and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. TIP: Get the travel pass. If this is your first time to Paris, be aware: keep that little metro pass safe AND the receipt. Its really annoying that it’s a paper ticket, and small, but there is an electronic record of your purchase (my partner had to change his) so that makes life easier.

We had a great stay for 6 nights in Paris, the only thing that I was disappointed about is minor, but being an accor silver member I was supposed to receive a welcome drink however this was not received. Other than this the staff were sooo friendly and the hotel was great

We were really amazed to stay at ibis Paris Bastille Opéra 11ème. It is a huge hotel with spacious accommodations. Big Reception, rooms bigger than expected and hotel location is so central. We really recommend Ibis Paris Bastille Opera without hesitation. The structure and well maintained installations are a plus!!!

I would not stay in this hotel again. Shower screen leaked and flooded the bathroom everytime I had a shower, reported this to reception who wote it down but nothing was done while I was there. I aslo found out from one of my collegues that his shower screen did the same thing. I had one meal in the retstaurant and was disappointed in the lack of choice. It was either Fish or Beef where was the chichen or pork? I cannot eat fish so that was all the starters out, then you had one beef dish for a main meal. If I had had to have another meal another day then I would have to be forced to go somewhere else.
