Professional. Clean rooms. Covid-19 measurements in restaurant somewhat unclear and, to my honest opinion, not very effective.

Awkward Stay

N/a Business - 08/10/2020 Confirmed reviews ALL

I have mixed feelings. The room was fine. The staff was pleasant and helpful. But: Having to change rooms every 4 days for it to be cleaned was stupid. I had packed enough clothes to travel for a month so moving every 4 days took some effort. FYI, I stayed in quarantine at the Hilton Schiphol prior to my stay at the Nijmegen Mercure and the room was cleaned every day. I just had to leave while the cleaners entered my room. Having only 1 functioning elevator in an 8 story hotel is ridiculous. When I asked when it would be fixed one of the staff laughed and said 3 months and that they were waiting for a part from China. The hotel was packed both weekends I was there and waiting times for an elevator were 10~15 minutes. I was on the 6th or 7th floor so taking the stairs was an option but not easy. For one, I'm not sure the other elevator was really broken or you just didn't want to sanitize it often, but if you valued your customers (many on the weekend were elderly and had to cram into the single elevator... during a pandemic...), you'd airship the part to the hotel and have it fixed. Clearly the inconvenience to the customer wasn't a priority. I had take away breakfast ordered every day, which was nice and convenient, but it was only ready ~ 2/3 of the time. It just didn't seem well organized. Not having the restaurant open during the pandemic was understandable, but would have been a pain if there wasn't a good restaurant (MIA) almost next door. If the Netherlands had reinstituted a lock down, I would have left the Mercure and gone back to the Hilton. With no restaurant, room service, or room cleaning, it would have been unfeasible to stay at this hotel during a lockdown.

Good in almost all respects - helpful staff, nice breakfast, room was nice, comfy bed. Only annoying thing was that one of the two lifts broke the day after I got there and remained out of order for 3 days (was still out order when I checked out on the fourth day). Considering that we were limited to 2 person per lift journey due to corona restrictions, this caused a signicant amount of congestion (probably increasing the chance of corona transmission!) and should have been fixed a lot more quickly

Hotel was long closed and now so lucky that it was re-opened. Staff is a bit nervous. Check-in IT systems down. Showed my print-out of reservation privilege room to prevent errors. But staff did not take notice of that as fully involved with the IT issue. I wanted to support. But got key of "normal" room in error as discovered entering the room. Called from this room and returned to reception desk. It was directly solved as I got nice apologies and the key of the privilege room 106. Case solved

Great location near Train Station. Our preference is to walk, do city walks and explore so the distance to the centrum was fine for us. We arrived a bit early and were able to check in - fantastic. We could drop our luggage and get exploring.

Very clean hotel and good location

Staff very friendly and accommodating. Well staffed with always someone to greet you at breakfast time and always someone at reception. Good breakfast selection. Very clean and good Covid 19 measures in place which are restrictive but understandable

First things first, we were very welcomed by the friendly people of Mercure. Room wasn't ready yet, so they upgraded us :) Something we really appreciated. They also gave of a map op the city, very nice. Room was very clean. Will come back for sure.

Nice hosts, good breakfast, due to Coronavirus the rooms were not cleaned.

Clean, practical, not sustainable

Just what you would expect. Clean, safe, functional, pleasant. Not much attention for 21st century sustainability issues. Lots of meat for breakfast, less cheese, but hardly carbon/environmental friendly options.

No cleaning of rooms was shocking

Pp Business - 01/09/2020 Confirmed reviews ALL

In general a good stay but I've got contradictory information about the cleaning of my room. At check in it was mentioned that the room will NOT be cleaned in all my stay (6 days), when I asked how could be possible no cleaning in 6 days it was mentioned that after 2 days I could be located in a different room. At the 3rd day I asked about it, but the lady in the counter (a different one) said no cleaning is the rule and it was not possible to change room. If I wanted clean towels I could put them out of the room, but that was all. I understand the Covid situation is impacting hotels, but #1 there should be a single policy, understood by all workers; and #2 it is not understandable how a hotel in your class expect that guests stay 5 nights in the same room without being cleaned (I found the proposal of changing a room very good). Last but not least, breakfast is okay, but there is no variation, and after 3 or 4 days it is better if you change a bit the choices during the week.

We were here for a short city break. The hotel is located very close to the center of Nijmegen and our 8th floor room had a lovely view. We felt very welcome on check-in and were impressed with the COVID-19 measures the hotel had implemented. We had a great breakfast at the buffet and also here the hotel did a great job to ensure social distancing and hygiene.

Good location.

We enjoyed the stay. Most receptionist were friendly and helpful, specially Mr Wil at the night shift. Breakfast was very good. Would have liked to have our room cleaned at least once during our 5 day stay. Parking was a bit expensive for the quests.

Old hotel, smelly hallways and outdated interiors. Ok to get in late and directly go to sleep. Location is near to the city, which is about the only positive about our stay.

Very good maintained, clean and stocked with all necessary amenities, staff very friendly. Great breakfast with good coffee, wide buffet... extra points for fresh orange juice! The only minor point: - upon arrival I got message about parking cost 7,50€/day... but later noticed on invoice that I was charged 11€

Clean, well run, comfortable, modern.

The hotel's staff were very helpful and efficient, as well as friendly. The rooms and public facilities were extremely clean and well maintained. Ideal location next to the Nijmegen station and parking right next to the building.
