good location, the hotel seems little bit old on his equipment and the decoration needs to be updated. Staff are nice and friendly, Breakfast had fresh and good product but also the presentation is old fashion, and be very fast to busy and tricky.

I booked via the Accor app for two nights accommodation. Upon arrival my credit card was charged approx €640 as a deposit. At checkout the invoice was €250. 3 days later instead of a refund of €390 my card was debited with another €528 followed by yet another debit of €260. So the total for 2 nights accommodation with no food or drink, is €1440.

Dear Sir M., We would like to thank you for taking the time to leave us a review following your stay at our hotel. All our teams are sincerely sorry to learn that your stay was not up to your expectations. Please note that your deposit was used for the payment of the stay so the 525 € will disppear on your account but as you have a foreigner credit card it can be blocked one week after your check-out. On our side, we have only 1 payment of 258.15 €. We understand that it's confusing for you but it's not our fault, it's the general payment system by credit card in France when you make a deposit. For information you can refuse a deposit, pay your entiere stay on your arrival and the restaurant or the bar directly. Do not hesitate to contact us for a next stay in Lyon in order to perfectly prepare your stay, and hope to win you back. By remaining at your disposal, Marion Begoc Front office manager

Very pleasant and relaxing. The staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. The lunch was well prepared and served. The dining room itself was a pleasure to be in, but the damage to the ceiling detracted form the ambience. The breakfast was far better than other hotels I have stayed at recently. The bathroom in our room was good, just right for a person with restricted mobility. The room itself was clean but a bit shabby: the paintwork round the windows needs attention. The television set and its remote control are very difficult to operate.

Dear ROSS J., We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Hôtel Mercure Lyon Centre Château Perrache. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback. I will share your comments with our team. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one. Sincerely, Marion Begoc Front office manager

Stayed a total of 6 days in two stays. During the first stay after the first night I was rung in the room and told to vacate the room, even though we were staying another three nights. I attended reception to sort the issue out. The final two nights of the last stay was in a superior room but was anything but superior. The two nights were separate bookings as I had to extend due to airline delays, I asked at the beginning of the first stay three weeks earlier to combine the two bookings, was assured this would be done. It was not done and after the first night I was asked to check in again, which I did. I was told that as the bookings were successive the 200 euro hold was cancelled and another 200 euro hold would be placed for the last night. My credit card would not connect so I went to the room andmy wife went down with her card. When she came back she told me a hold of 400 euros had been applied. Don't know why. In the superior room there is a sitting area that no lighting what so ever creating a very dark corner with a settee that is of no use for reading etc. I would imagine a simple floor lamp wouldn't stretch the budget too far.

A very tired hotel in an increasingly unpleasant area of Lyon

I have stayed twice before at this hotel. The hotel needs to be completely updated. I had a tiny room and it was expensive for what is being offered. The food was average and the person working as maitre d had terrible body odour. Also despite having stayed with my small dog in Mercure hotels all over France it was necessary for the very first time to provide a (refundable) deposit for the dog. I was told this was company policy and when I said in 20 years I have never been asked for one I was argued with by the staff.
