The location couldn't be better for the airport, it is almost opposite the door to departures. The discount on the carpark was excellent reduced to £12 from £44 for 24 hours when you check your ticket at reception (don't book in advance though just get your ticket from the machine as you drive in on the day). Our room had been recently refurbished so was nice and fresh (aside from an unpleasant looking stain on the sofa). The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and check in and out was simple and fast. The bar area is very nicely done but the service was terrible. There was a long queue for drinks, which I have never seen before in a hotel and the bar was run by what looked like very inexperienced staff who didn't seem to have any support. It's the start of someones break or a quiet evening for a business person and this leaves you feeling frustrated and disappointed. I have still given a decent score as overall we were pleased we had booked here and probably would again in the hope that the staff are trained up to deliver a better service.

Couldn't be better location for the airport and very quiet room. Bed very comfortable. However no vents or windows open which meant that we had to have the air conditioning on all night so not very comfortable from that point of view. Tea tray was poor considering the money we paid and restaurant opened quite late in my view. We were going to a concert so unable to eat at the hotel in the evening also breakfast service started a little late for us. It was Saturday morning and didn't start until 7am. We had breakfast, which was lovely. Huge range of quality products, well presented and nicely cooked.

We stayed for one night before flying from Birmingham Airport. Room was clean. Water did not drain from the bath / shower. The electrical socket on the wall by the bathroom / mirror did not work.

My stay was only for one night only , the hotel is so close to Birmingham airport and suited my 8am flight. The room was very clean and tidy. The bar and restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere and I found the menus and food was excellent

On checking in I asked the receptionist if it was necessary to book a table for dinner or indeed breakfast the following day. She informed me that the same menu was served in the bar and the restaurant and that it was unnecessary to make a reservation. 30 minutes later I went to the bar and after waiting to be served I was told rather rudely that food was only being served in the restaurant. This was a surprise given the information from the receptionist. So I went to the restaurant to be told I could not enter as I did not have a reservation. Other guests were also faced with the same response. I was rather tired having travelled all day and told the girl in the restaurant that this was not acceptable given the information provided at reception. She was not for changing. A more senior staff member then arrived and initially took the same position, even though I could see several empty tables in the restaurant. Another guest & I suggested that we would share a table to help matters and were eventually allowed to enter the restaurant. This was pretty unpleasant and was not handled very well by the staff in question. The room was clean, but the pillows were the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced resulting in a very bad night's sleep. The handbasin in the bathroom was blocked and didn't empty and was also rather smelly. Breakfast the next morning was cold (a hot buffet) and rather tasteless. Overall a poor experience that could so easily have been a very good experience if the staff attitude was improved and managed properly. A shame really because the location for NEC & Birmingham airport is superb.

Shambolic Arrival

Sadly when we were arrived after travelling all day from Europe we were advised that "due to a problem" our room was not available but should be within 10-15 minutes if we would like to have a complimentary drink. On the basis of a 20:00 hours arrival this was disappointing. We duly went to the bar and joined a queue which was being served by one poor girl who was clearly rushed off her feet. 30 minutes later I sat down with the drinks and no word from reception. after finishing our drinks I went back to reception and was advised that our room was ready (so much for being advised!) so I enquired about dinner and was advised yes that would be possible but that the kitchen was closing in 30 minutes - why weren't we advised that the room would take a while and that there was a surprisingly early closing time for food (including room service) when we could have eaten upon arrival I don't know. Anyway we booked a table and were "greeted" if that is the correct word by a somewhat surly lady who clearly saw our arrival as a major inconvenience. This was however compensated by the second lady who took our food order who was very pleasant. Food was ok but paying lead to more issues and basically the young man who dealt with us was verging on the rude. I will cut some slack here as English was not his first language and there may have been some translation issues and it was evident that all staff seemed to be stressed and under pressure. This was borne out by various complaints from diners to staff at surrounding tables so clearly we were not alone in our views. The score would have been lower but for the constant apologising of the young lady at reception and the lady taking our food order plus the fact that the room was immaculate however I will never return to this hotel and am not sure whether I will return to Novotel - a chain I have regularly used when I was travelling and working in Geneva. I still do not know what the problem was but suspect it was that the hotel was busy and understaffed. I feel for the staff who will no doubt have been faced with tired travellers and they will have been unable to provide the level of service which frankly should be straight forward for some unkown reason.

Terrible management resulting hilarious and brand damaging experience

Location i. great for the airport and the rooms and communal areas are well maintained and clean. The restaurant though i. so badly run that it’s worth avoiding the hotel entirely and staying at the competition just to avoid it. When we stayed we booked the restaurant and had to wait 20 mins to be wlsested even though there were 30% of the tables free. 4 front of house staff were on duty and the chef kept leaving the restaurant to go outside every 5 mins or so when we were waiting for our table. Other guests were furious as they were waiting 90+ mins for food. We waited 20 mins for drinks and eventually gave up and went to the bar to get our own drinks. There we saw two servers hanging around the bar saying “it’s ok she won’t find us here” (referring to the manager) Food took 30 mins to arrive and they only had prepared 1 meal (we were 2). This was remedied quickly. The food was pretty good for a hotel restaurant. The staff really didn’t know what they were doing at all and the manager of the restaurant had to keep apologising to clients. The general manager briefly came down and gave a free room to one particularly unhappy client - which didn’t make everyone feel good as they had the same experience and got nothing for their patience. By far the funniest moment though was a guy on a nearby table who, after waiting a very long time, ordered a justeat food delivery to be delivered to the restaurant. All the guests nearby were laughing hysterically which made for a nice atmosphere. Terrible management from the top of the hotel. Turns out these complaints have been going online for months now and nothing appears to be done.

I regular stay at this hotel whilst attending events at the NEC. It is comfortable and very convenient. With events being cnacelled due to the pandemic the hotel staff have been extremely helpful in transferring bookings, etc.

A business hotel, located next to an airport that closes kitchen at 9:30 pm. I had to order food from a delivery service as nothing else was available. With 200 Euro the room night, that's not acceptable
