I had not stayed at the Mercure since they renovated, and I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere, room and the restaurant. Most of all the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

Not up to a 4* hotel standards

Overall the hotel building is ok, the room size was fine, but there is no proper working table despite having enough space for it, only a medium sized round table in the center which does not allow to have your laptop connected to a power supply (unless you have a long cable) and not comfortable to have your things around. Not enough hangers in the bathroom for all the towels (hands, body and mat), neither a magnifying mirror. The bed was comfortable, but the two blackout curtains did not overlap, so there was light coming in all night from the well-light garden and in the morning. The hotel seems to be lacking service staff, the person at reception is not always at their desk because they need to do other things. There is no waiter at the bar unless after having waited for a while you request to be attended by someone (which sometimes is the receptionist!). If you arrive a bit late at night, the entrance gate is closed an you need to ring a bell several times until after more than 5 mins later, someone opens the door for you. Overall, a good stay if the hotel had been a 3* hotel. In my opinion, lacking a bit to be a 4* hotel.
