Theft of money from room

The hotel was fine overall, although the pillows and beds were not comfortable for anyone in our group of 4 and it felt a bit dated. The main problem was a large amount of money disappeared from the one of our rooms. Since it was not in the safe and was instead inside a personal bag the hotel claimed no responsibility. The management was apologetic, but there wasn't much done to address the issue. I would not stay here again nor do I recommend it. We also looked for cameras in the hallway after the money was found to be missing, and there were none that we could see. We didn't feel safe or secure after that.

As our Manager told us at Reception, we have done everything we can: questioning the locks, video surveillance, and verification. For our part, we guarantee the integrity of our room attendants. i visited the hotel for one night during my stay in Caen beginning of April 25. the hotel is well located near the touristic area in Caen. other than that there is no more advantage the hotel is providing to it s guests. this hotel is a 4 star hotel, however maybe this is my first time to stay in a 4 star hotel in which its rooms don't have phones so i couldn't call the reception to ask for anything. the rooms don't have any chain lock on the rooms doors so there is no minimum level of security in the rooms, no phones for emergency neither chain locks on the doors. i am wondering that Accor are taking an amazing initiative in terms of sustainability however they don't really care about the security of their guests.

Hello sir, Thank you for taking the time to write to us. Indeed, our doors are no longer equipped with chain locks but they ARE equipped with a manual lock that is situated directly above the door handle inside your room. One turn to the left and the door cannot be opened with a key card. Our reception desk is otherwise staffed 24/7 and they can be reached on our main hotel line at all hours.
