We used the hotel successfully as a base for exploring Ghent. The bedroom was pleasant with a safe, kettle, coffee maker, small drinks fridge, sofa and very good en-suite bathroom- we appreciated the bathrobes, slippers, bamboo toothbrush and comb. We did not use any of the other facilities. However, the soap and shampoo were unimpressive. The fixed double bed was far too close to one wall. The coffee machine was tricky to use. The cups were too small for a drink of tea. There was nowhere to hang the bathrobes, unless you put the towels on the floor. The restaurant was a major reason for booking the hotel. This was closed. We felt that we should have been informed of this closure beforehand. When I asked at the desk about local vegetarian restaurants the receptionist just responded that there were lots of restaurants in Ghent. She also omitted to tell us that the tramlines on the map were no longer correct- as a result we discovered that there was no tram for our planned journey to the fine art museum.

We’ve stayed at this hotel several times before and it’s notable that it’s beginning to look shabby particularly outside. Internally the lock on the lift requiring you to use your card to move between floors was not working and the electric revolving door was manual only. Also breakfast was much more chaotic than usual with ingredients running out and not being replenished quickly or at all.

Decent Stay, but Unpleasant Smell in the Hallways

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The location was also convenient, with easy access to public transport and nearby attractions. However, one major downside was the smell in the hallways. It had a strong, artificial odor, like cheap bathroom disinfectant, which was quite unpleasant every time I walked to and from my room. Thankfully, the smell didn’t linger inside the room itself, but it did affect the overall experience. For a short stay, the hotel is decent and offers good value for the price, but I hope they improve the choice of cleaning products or ventilation in the common areas.

Despite a good location the hotel doesn’t meet expectations. Rooms very old, pilows thick and uncomfy, bed old and noisy, sink in the restroom still clogged since last year when I was there, so you can’t even wash your hands, breakfast quite poor and dishes not quite clean.

Great location for Christmas market

Stayed here as part of a group booking when visiting the Christmas market, which the hotel was brilliantly positioned for. The room was spacious with a hallway, off of which was a separate toilet and then bath with a shower over it. The bedroom had a double bed, sofa, desk, small fridge and TV with a wide selection of channels on it in different languages. However, the heating/air-conditioning in the room wasn’t working properly, so I couldn’t heat the room up. Would visit again.
