Great stay with a group in Bregenz

I took a group of 13 people to Bregenz for a church-related tour. Our "home base" was the Grand Hotel Bregenz. It is perfectly located to the train/bus station (literally just a staircase and very short walk away). The breakfast (included with our room rate) was absolutely incredible. Everything you could have wanted was on the buffet and the hosts were so attentive. The rooms are nice and typical for the price point. The hotel is right on the lake and a beautiful walking path is just steps away. You can also access downtown Bregenz with an easy 8 to 10-minute walk. I would definitely stay here again.

It is an excellent hotel near the train station and the lake. The breakfast has a wide variety of options. Customer service was fantastic, especially Andrew, who is friendly and accommodating to our group. There is a nice restaurant behind the hotel.

Stayed at this hotel for one night with my tour, Gate1/Discovery Tours. Rooms had bathrobe and slippers. Bed was comfortable and so were the feather pillows. Dinner at restaurant was very good. Breakfast buffet had a good variety of choices and eggs can be ordered. Room 228 - nice size room, king bed, very quiet Casino next door.

No lake view but modern, clean, & convenient to train

Two years ago, I wrote a pretty scathing review of this hotel on this site because it was listed as having a lake view, but there are no rooms with lake views. They still don't have any lake views, but they've updated their site to remove the descriptive language that said it did. With my expectations tempered, I still booked again because of the hotel's modern style & its' convenient yet quiet location next to the train station from which I arrived. This time, I booked an executive room (top floor with balcony overlooking the park-like setting & the Festspielhaus). While the room was nice, I wouldn't book it again as the rate was much higher for very little added benefit; a standard room would be sufficient for my needs. I also booked breakfast which was convenient (there are extremely few places for breakfast provisions nearby), & breakfast was OK but nothing special for the price; you're paying for convenience. Note that hotel rates seem to increase significantly on those summer nights when there are musical performances next door at the Festspielhaus or outdoors at the adjacent theater. Nevertheless, given the lack of other nearby accommodations, I'd stay here again when visiting the lovely Bregenz sea.

Personal touch is everything. This hotel is modern, comfortable but a bit corporate- looking. In the lobby, some stunning artwork transforms the look. All in all satisfactory. However, the service changes everything: - we arrived late due to alpine roads closing ( mudslides), the restaurant was closing, Elenka, seeing our disappointment said: there are still 10 minutes, here is the menu, choose your food. The young man at the reception, Jason, said : Don’t worry, I will personally take your luggage to your room. The lady in charge of breakfast was also very helpful, looking for everyone and everything. The cleaning staff, on a Sunday , was there in force to do everything fast and well. Kudos to management: there is obviously good training and, most importantly, staff is empowered to make independent reasonable decisions. We will be back.
