Staff here are very friendly and there is a secure garage below the hotel which makes it perfect for a stop if you are driving through France. The room was clean but the hotel is very tired - carpets need to be replaced and the age of the fixtures and fittings give a sense that the place needs a clean even when it doesn’t. Breakfast however is great - lots of fresh bread, Madeline’s, crepes, fruits, yoghurts and decent coffee from a machine. So we’d stop here again but definitely wouldn’t linger for a few days.

Be aware, however, that we have re-sensitized the teams so that this problem does not persist.Our establishment had started its major renovations in 2019 as you could see in our reception area, bar and restaurant. Some rooms were completely redone and almost all our bathrooms in 2019. However, the health crisis did not allow us to continue this makeover to make our establishment one in which the entire team would take real pleasure in welcoming delighted guests. We thought that, to mark the end of a 3 week, frugal trip through Spain and France, we'd upgrade to a 'Superior' room on our last night. How disappointed we were to find a basic room awaiting us. We told the receptionist we'd paid for a superior 'comfort' room. She disappeared for several minutes then returned and told us it was now a superior room because she'd put tea and coffee-making equipment in it! We returned to the room and found a tray containing a kettle, tea bags, instant coffee, a bottle of water and paper cups! (See photo.) This, apparently, made it a superior room!! However, the room was clean, the bed linen was crisp and the bed was comfortable. There was no outside noise. (We were in a room around the back.) The hotel was 2 minutes away from the amazing Old Town - just across the river. Breakfast was adequate: fresh fruit salad, fruit drink, yogurts, bread, eggs (toast your own bread and boil your own egg), ham, cheese, croissants, pan au chocolat, cakes and various teas and machine-made coffee. Apart from one friendly young lady who supervised breakfast, no one spoke any English whatsoever so if your French isn't up to much, have Google translate at the ready; it (usually) gets it right! Parking needs to be booked in advance. Messaging was slow so we rang. I've photographed the Ibis garage. It's in Rue de Chene Vert. You need a code to get in. We parked outside the garage and one of us walked round to Reception, a few yards away, to get the code. Thankfully, the parking spaces were easy to access, unlike all the other hotel parking we'd experienced.

One night stop, rude staff

Me and my husband needed a one night stop in Le Mans. The hotel is in a great location and we did not have much trouble with parking in the street nearby. At arrival, we were greeted very nicely by a lady at the reception. The room was ok, clean but felt moist, not much air could get in or out. Ok for one night but would not stay or recommend longer. In the morning, we went for a walk in the city and when we came back for our luggages, a different person, a man at the reception, very rudely stopped serving other customers and demanded we told him our room number when we were calling the elevator. We later discussed with him, he assured us this was only for security reasons, but we felt offended. We travel a lot and not in one hotel in any country this ever before happened to us. We felt as if he singled us out by our looks, as if we looked like homeless entering the hotel uninvited. Truly unprofessional and we won’t be coming back.

We had booked a room through the Accor website which had apparently cancelled itself, but the Receptionist on duty was extremely helpful and sorted us a room very quickly. There were some parts of the hotel that required refurbishment (second floor hall carpet was badly stained)
