A Ruined Relationship for the Sofitel Brand

Poor first impression. The hotel representative single-handedly ruined the possibility of any chance of a future Sofitel reservation. I double booked for our brief Paris stay with Sofitel Le Scribe and Sofitel Baltimore Tour Eiffel. Yes, it was completely my fault for making two separate reservations in the early planning stages months ago and forgetting about the second one, and forgetting to cancel within the time period under the terms of the hotel. However, I’ve never given the Sofitel brand a chance, and have historically been loyal to other hotel brands. So I decided this was a good opportunity to explore and compare. When I tried to cancel Sofitel Le Scribe, the hotel representative simply reminded me that it was too late to cancel without penalty and that I would be responsible for the one night fee. I asked for a courtesy waiver, recognizing it was completely my mistake. However, the hotel representative simply responded that they were going to charge me if I wasn’t staying there and that’s it. Again, the hotel had every right to charge me as it did under our greed reservation terms, however, instead of making some type of small gesture at all so to someone intending to give the property a chance to shift some loyalty and to not totally alienate me from the hotel and the brand, I really hope that the hotel makes the most of its €800 that it took for my mistake - my mistake for ever thinking that I should consider Sofitel as a luxury choice for accommodation in Paris. I tried to find the name and contact details of the hotel manager at Sofitel Le Scribe to confirm the hotel representative I spoke with did in fact speak on behalf of the manager. I even asked the front desk after we completed our stay at the Sofitel Baltimore Tour Eiffel but even the front desk representative wasn’t able to find her colleague’s contact details online. Seems they can’t be bothered with these types of Incidents, but one thing for sure is that Sofitel has earned the place of a blacklisted brand forever among my preferred accommodation brands.

The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. There were plenty of food options and the staff provided excellent service.

L'accueil est toujours aussi sympathique : Le Directeur nous reconnaît dès notre arrivée. Et cela est très appréciable ! Le service était au top, nous avons même eu un bouquet de fleurs naturelles dans notre chambre. (Qui était prête avant l'heure d'arrivée prévue). Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir !
