The hotel is nice but I didn't like the décor. It's simultaneously modern but also cheap and a bit old and run-down, especially in the room interiors. The rooms, which where advertised as good by the reception staff, since we were booking through American Express, we're just about acceptable in terms of their state and condition of the furniture, which seemed old and battered, and was cheap in the first place. On a separate note, the bar was excellent, and the bartender provided excellent service and advice. Also the concierge was very considerate. And the reception staff, though quite young and inexperienced, we're very well-mannered and kind.

Really enjoyed our 3 day stay at the hotel. Mathieu, the Chef Concierge was fantastic. He was so helpful and his efforts made our visit even more pleasant.

Very happy with our experience with the Sofitel staff. They were all professional and friendly. We turned up early and they were able to find us a room at 11AM. That was very much appreciated! The room itself was very small and the decor a bit tired. A mirrored sliding wardrobe door was broken. The room had barely a metre on either side of the bed, and not much more at the bottom. Fire escape map suggests that we got given the smallest room, but as we got the room at 11AM - we were not going to complain. It did the job, but hardly a feeling of luxury. For such a "grand" hotel, surprised that the room size is acceptable. Bed linen was fantastic though. We enjoyed the hotel breakfast. They do one of the best breakfast buffets we have experienced. Our experience was a bit tarnished by the manners of the other guests, who felt it acceptable to do facetime loudly, play folk tunes on their phones and chain-smoke.

Our hotel has been built in 1964 as the first Sofitel hotel in the world. As of today, we must compose with this building and its configuration. Furthermore, our hotel is on the “Grande Ile” of Strasbourg, listed as a world heritage at Unesco. However, I took note of your remarks and will transfer them to our General Manager. I would like to precise that our hotel offer 6 different room categories, and the room you occupied was the first one. I invite you to contact me directly for your next journey to offer you the best option concerning the room. I would be very pleased to welcome you back in our House the nearest future. Despite having requested parking we had to wait a long while to access garage and then reception staff were very unfriendly as we had parked our own car. On checking out we were charged for valet parking that we never saw or used and I expect a refund for this The room was small and dated , more like an Ibis hotel not a four star Sofitel Location is very good
