I loved this place. Not too big with over water and garden villas, great menu options each evening and the staff were brilliant - very attentive and the reception staff remembered my name. Concierge services were also very good. Easy snorkelling in the lagoon and a magnificent view of Tahiti. It's also very close to the airport and ferry terminal. It's not great for walking to local restaurants but taxi services are available. I've already recommended it to others!

Expensive, dirty and worn. The manager of this hotel cannot be serious about their job. A daily walk around would uncover. 1. Dog mess all over the place. 2. Mould in the room showers. 3. Chickens in the dinning areas walking over the tables and cutlery. 4. Concrete paths that are wearing away that are trip hazards 5. Really bad quality food at serious prices. 6. Tv in room with French only channels 7. Some of the restaurant staff are really really bad and rude. There is no excuse. I have stayed at 1000s of hotels and this manager needs to wake up. We got upgraded to ocean view which was a surprise. Service was wonderful, people amazing and so helpful. Everything was unforgettable pleasant The tropical fauna and smells are to die for. Just need a bit of sprucing up.

We stayed two nights in a luxury overwater Bungalow as a treat at the end of our stay on Moorea, after staying a few nights at a nearby resort. Everyone should do this at least once in their life, and Sofitel does it very well. The room is large and roomy and clean with a small glass viewing panel in the floor near the balcony and beautiful ocean views. A welcome bottle of champagne was waiting for us in the room and the beer, water, soft-drink in the mini-bar are included and replaced daily. The TV is large but has almost all French/Tahitian channels with only CNN in English and no option to show sub-titles, so we didn’t really use it. The bathroom is also large with a rain-head shower and a hand-held shower that was set too low to shower under. They supply shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and soap as well as other amenities like toothbrush, shaving and vanity kit. We had a couple of hours to wait for our room to be ready, we had asked for an early check-in but it is high season and we weren’t able to check-in until 2pm. We were able to relax at the bar and make use of the facilities while we were waiting. Our son stayed in a garden bungalow and that was also very nice. The gardens and grounds are beautiful and the water fountain lights up in different colours at night. Breakfast in the restaurant was good with an excellent selection of food and drinks and the coffee was good as well so everyone would be happy with what is offered. The bar has tapas/snack options for food which were good and it is in a nice setting overlooking the lagoon and the pool. The night we arrived there was a buffet dinner and show in the restaurant but we ate at the bar which was fine. We did eat at the restaurant on our second night but found the food a bit ordinary and portions very small. We used the free kayaks and did a bit of snorkelling around the lagoon area; the corals are much nicer here than they were around the other resort we stayed at. It was so nice to be able to enter the water directly off our balcony and swim around the corals, and outdoor towels were supplied. We did get some rain during our stay, and umbrellas are provided in the rooms but the walkway becomes very slippery when wet which can be a hazard. Our transfer to the ferry was organised by the hotel and during our stay all the staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble. We would highly recommend Sofitel as a great place to stay at Moorea.

My boyfiend and I just returned from spending 3 nights in Moorea and then 4 in Bora Bora. For the island of Moorea, I am pretty confident to say that this is the nicest hotel with the best vibe and the best grounds. We really struggled with where to stay in Moorea and were so happy that we landed on the Sofitel. The place is super lush, has really great food, and has a fun bar scene with live music early every evening. The snorkeling here is supposed to be amazing (the water was too cold when we went) but we could see straight through to the bottom from our Kayaks. The staff are great, and everyone is super friendly. We arrived in Tahiti at 5:30 a.m. and just found a cab to take us to the ferry. From there we got ferry tickets and went to Moorea, found another cab, and landed at our hotel, Sofitel. It is really easy to navigate if you are a quick learned and experienced traveler. I feel like alot of people wasted a night or money by staying in Tahiti itself instead of just taking an hourly ferry over to Moorea. The rooms (we stayed in jungle room as we waited to do the overwater for bora bora) were lovely. Very spacious, with a very comfortable bed, walk in closet, little kitchenette area (if you will) and a massive walk in shower that has doors that open to a little protected outside area in the event you want to sort of feel like you are showering outside. The breakfast buffet was great, and man have I had a free breakfast at an Island resort before. I am not making this up when I say that it was the best omelet I have ever had. I really cannot say enough about Sofitel, Moorea.
