Our stay at Sofitel was absolutely wonderful. Our bungalow was great, with a comfortable bed, and we loved the indoor/outdoor shower. The breakfast included with the room was delicious, with a terrific variety of food. We will always remember spring rolls and sauteed vegetables for breakfast! All of the staff were so friendly. We loved every part of our stay.

Nice stay in overwater bungalow, there was a nice reef next to us with lots of fish. Resort location was close to ferry station which was convenient.

Good snorkeling, but hotel is old. Rooms are falling apart, housekeeping terrible, and long lines at reception and restaurant.

The location of the hotel was nice, as it is situated on a lagoon so snorkeling was excellent. The presentation of the facilities was nice and the views were incredible. The live music at night was an enjoyable touch. Those are pretty much the only positives. You are paying for the location and view, not for the luxury hotel experience that I was expecting. The rooms are in desperate need of repair. They are old and falling apart. Housekeeping was terrible. All they did was make the bed and empty the trash. Bath products were not replaced and shower drains were not cleaned. In fact, I doubt that anything was cleaned at all. The snorkeling equipment that they provide is very old and worn. They should upgrade all of these pieces to a new one. There were loose floor boards on the board walk and on our deck. It's very disconcerting when you are taking a leisurely walk and all of a sudden you hear a loose floorboard and your stomach drops for a second because you think you are going to fall in or trip. This hotel could benefit from an improvement in technology. There is always a long line at reception as there are only ever 1-2 workers there. Early check-in was not available so we waited patiently for 5 hours for our rooms to be ready. It would have been nice if we were alerted via text message that our room was ready, instead of us waiting until 2 pm and then standing on yet another long line at reception to check in again. When we did finally get to our room, our bags were already there. I wonder how much earlier we could have checked in. Key cards get demagnetized if they are held against a phone. This is 2021 - I feel that this issue should be resolved by now. In modern-day, people store their room cards next to their phones. Some hotels even let you unlock with your phone... We had a poor checkout experience. First of all, we requested late checkout and they said no, it was not available which we respected. Then we found out from another guest that you could purchase late checkout to 5pm. So then we consulted another receptionist and were finally given information on how we could extend our stay, which we did. The receptionists should all be trained to provide the same customer service information to all their guests. So the lesson here is, if you don't get the answer you want try asking another receptionist. On the day before checkout, we purchased a transfer to the ferry at 4pm. All good. However, on the actual day of checkout (we arrived 10 mins before our taxi), there were of course long waits at checkout, so our taxi was given to another couple who was in line in front of us. They literally purchased a transfer at check out, got in our taxi (that we had ordered well in advance), and left. All the taxi needed to do was wait an extra minute for us to finalize our checkout and we could have all gone together. Instead, it left and we were told to wait for the next one (basically, the one that that couple had ordered). The hotel claimed that taxi cabs were "quick". By "quick" they meant a 20 min wait time. We finally got on a new taxi and barely made the ferry in time. Pretty sure we were the last ones to board. Be prepared for sticker shock at the restaurant where a bottle of water costs $12. There is a "cheaper" bottle of water at $6 but that was not disclosed to us until after we saw other customers drinking it. The speed of service at the restaurant was terrible. While most of the staff was pleasant, it took forever to place your order and then get the check. Only about 50% of the time did the staff come to check on you during your meal. If you need to eat here, I suggest looking at the menu beforehand so you can order immediately upon being seated. After you get served your meal, immediately request the check. I could tell that other tables were also waiting for their bill. It just takes forever at this restaurant, but the food is good except for the burger. I will write a full review on this restaurant separately. Overall, I would not recommend staying here unless you are avid snorkelists. I should have booked at the Hilton.

Please be assured that all your remarks are listened to carefully and have been reviewed for product and service improvement. Numerous subjects have already been under process with first visible results. While the physical enhancement often underlies important delays, I genuinely regret that we missed out on our recognized service level. The guest quality you experienced does absolutely not reflect the attention and service excellence we are known for and I am extremely sorry for that and have been investigating on the reasons. Kindly note that the snorkling equipment gets renewed regularly and all material is cleaned after every usage according to HACCP hygiene standards. The yellow coloring of rubber parts is not a sign of aging but a coloring effect provoked by the sea salt. In terms of your waiting time at arrival, kindly be reminded that the official check-in time is 2pm (unless you reserve your room for an early arrival one night before). While our rooms division team takes all efforts to deliver the bungalows as fast as possible, we always respect our reservation promise in terms of category reserved and thus cannot just allocate any room available. In any case, the resort and its services are at your disposal as of arrival so you can start enjoying your holidays right away. The quick luggage delivery just prior your entry to your bungalow was meant as a gesture of comfort from our end to avoid another laps of waiting. Once again, my candid apologies for the deception. Nevertheless, we would be delighted to have the opportunity of welcoming you back in the future with the objective to create unique memories from an extraordinary stay experience. I was not made to feel welcome, and wondered if it was because I was a woman traveling solo. First, I was dismayed when I arrived at the hotel gate and said I had a reservation, the gatekeeper said "At this hotel?" Like, "Really -- you?" He asked this question without even asking my name -- as if somehow I didn't fit in with his picture of who should stay there. I'm an attractive (albeit >40) PhD neuroscientist with degrees from Harvard and Stanford and I was driving a nice rental car -- what seemed wrong to him about the fact that I would be staying at a Sofitel? He then checked his reservation record and said, "Oh yes, Madame L.." Ditto -- at check-in, the reception staff seemed somewhat surprised to see me, even though I had a reservation, and they kept double-checking my reservation, and acting like perhaps a mistake had been made. Also, I arrived 30 minutes early and asked for early check-in, but was told that my bungalow wasn't ready and that I should go spend some time in the gift shop until it was (and reception oh so kindly provided me with a coupon for $50 off any purchase over $250). Instead I strolled around the hotel grounds. Clearly, the place was not heavily booked, and all the empty bungalows I saw were clean and ready for check-in. Meanwhile, other bungalows were in a sad state of disrepair -- including one with an old mattress left out on the front patios So why couldn't I have just been given a 30 minute early check-in? I even pointed out to the receptionist that it was my birthday, and that my stay at the hotel had been a birthday treat to myself.

Official check-in time though is 2pm - unless you reserve your room for an early check-in one night prior. In any case, the resort and its services are at your disposal as of arrival so you can start enjoying your holidays while waiting for your bungalow. We provide a luggage room to keep your belongings, changing cabins so you can refresh and make yourself comfortable, beach towels to relax at our stunning beach, or offer you to relish your senses at our restaurant with spectacular views over the lagoon and the ocean. With regards to your birthday, a birthday cake by the chef was arranged as a diner surprise. We sincerely regret that this gesture did not meet your expectations. From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed, everything about our trip was spectacular. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive and our bungalow was beautiful and well kept. The only complaints I would have were that the weekend dining staff was not as attentive as the week day staff and my husband and I were left unattended for a very long time on two nights in a row and we had a bird / animal in the roof of our bungalow which was quite noisy at times. Otherwise, it was amazing.

We stayed in an over water bungalow at the end of the pier. It was a beautiful view but blocked by the thatched roof which covered the top half of the window. The staff was very friendly and our room was kept spotless and the fridge stocked. The biggest complaint was the food. We purchased all our breakfasts in advance and didn’t end up eating there everyday. We got tired of waiting in line due to one or two chefs that serve you. Also, the fruit selection is minimal and was over ripe. Nothing was good… including the Polynesian Dinner Show. The show was great…the food not so much.

loved our overwater bungalow immensely, we had a good one facing the island of Moorea, and it had privacy. Very much appreciated that. Felt the service was just okay when it came to housekeeping, as they would leave trash cans full, empty cans out, etc. which were noticed. the restaurant was pretty good, sometimes slow service, but they gave me a free dessert on my birthday which was much appreciated. overall would recommend this hotel.

From the moment we arrived, the hotel staff were very friendly, and accommodating. We got on the earliest ferry from Tahiti, and checked in around 7 am, with no issues. The over water bungalow was very clean and spacious, the weather and the water temperature was perfect. My favorite part in the hotel is the expansive lagoon with almost endless coral gardens, it’s almost like being dropped in an aquarium, countless varieties of fish to see, even saw a 6-7 ‘ black tipped shark minding his business and swing out to the break water!! Also while lounging on the beach, my wife and I saw whales breaching the shore on back to back days, incredible sight to see!! The only fault would be the food, not what we initially thought would be available, but none the less, an awesome experience, and based on this trip would prefer Moorea over Bora Bora.

Overall it was a great stay in a beautiful location. The only reason for lower service rating was due to issue with replenishment of drinks in mini fridge in room and the way it was handled by front desk. A minor issue but one that shouldn't happen.

We stayed for a week at the Sofitel resort in Moorea in a Garden View Bungalow. It was one of our best vacations--the resort is beautiful and has more than 1km of pristine beach, great snorkeling right there, free use of snorkeling gear and other water activities. The bungalow was very spacious and comfortable with all the amenities and a great veranda, grounds are beautiful and well maintained, excellent breakfast...highly recommend.
