Overall we had a pleasant stay. The location is great, the people were lovely as always, and the rooms were beautiful. There was no major problems but the service was rough. This isn't necessarily an issue but for the price you're paying (room was ~1500 a night) you expect above average service. Small things like room service not answering the phone for 5+ minutes. Having to flag someone down for more coffee at breakfast and no place to refill it yourself. The room didnt have international plugs (but lots of USB ports and we had one converter) and when I asked the front desk they wanted to give me a voltage converter that was so big it had a handle (all our electronics handle both voltages). I love Moorea and this was probably my 5th visit to the island (second to Sofitel). I love how laid back French Polynesia is and understand it's a small country. So I don't expect the same service you'd get in a big city or major destination. If this was the off season and prices were lower I think it wouldn't bother me at much but it's hard justifying the premium price during the peak season.

We had such a wonderful experience at the Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea and I highly recommend it! We stayed in the overwater bungalows, and it was absolutely beautiful. If you’re considering splurging on an overwater bungalow, I would do it here. We also stayed in Bora Bora, and I actually thought the overwater bungalows at the Sofitel were nicer. The breakfast buffet was excellent, and the chef making omelets every morning was so friendly and hilarious—he genuinely made breakfast more fun. What really stood out, though, was the customer service. I had made a minor mistake with our booking dates, and the General Manager, Patrice, went above and beyond to help us work everything out. He was incredibly accommodating, checked on us daily, and made sure we were taken care of throughout our stay. The level of personal attention and service was superb. Between the beautiful overwater bungalows, great breakfast, and exceptional staff, we had an amazing stay and would absolutely recommend this resort
