Somewhat dissapointing, but convenient if you're at the conference center

A basic hotel, relatively small rooms with only the essential amenities. Everything feels a bit dated, but at least I had a clean room. The air conditioning does not work, and the window only opens for a few centimeters. Lots of people struggling with their key cards for the rooms and elevators. Breakfast is okay, maybe a bit more bread options (only white bread offered) would be nice. For the price I paid, I expected a bit more.

Booked Family Room for 2 Adults and 2 Kids. At arrival we got two separate rooms with no interconnection. One of the rooms had a Non-Functional AC and the other Room had where the temp was set 10C and could not be regulated (only on or off). The second room was not fully cleaned, mold spots on walls, bathroom and broken water tap on the shower. Gym was in a very overused and unclean/not maintained condition. The Personnel was nice indeed and helpful but they could not resolve the issues.

Very disappointing

When travelling around Europe we often choose Novotel hotels and we have always been satisfied. However, not this time. The cleanliness of the room left much to be desired, especially the toilet. Mold in the shower, for me this is unacceptable in a 4* hotel. Poor breakfast, many stale products, lacks in bread. No tea (sic!) - when I asked where I could find tea, the service man brought me 2 bags - I have never encountered anything like that!!! The cleanliness of the restaurant also left much to be desired, especially around the coffee machines. The service at the reception was nice and helpful and that is the only reason I rated the hotel 2 stars. This was definitely our first and last visit to this hotel!

Having stayed at other Novotel hotels in Europe,my experience in this hotel was disappointing. The double room I had booked had two single beds instead of a double as I had asked,fortunately the receptionist gave us another room immediately… The cards in the elevators didn’t work and we had to replace them The bathrooms were very small and had no fresh air The bath was so slippery that my son fell and was hurt,I informed the reception,but nothing changed…Plus in the same bathroom,the water came off the shower and the bathroom always turned into a lake… The breakfast had a very slow refill. I wouln’t recommend it…

Contrary to some reviews on here I found my room to be extremely well decorated, and with a lovely cosy bed. All perfectly clean as you would expect. Some features are a little dated indeed, but it's good value for a hotel that was half the price of others more centrally located. Staff were all nice and helpful. The hotel is probably better suited for business stays whereas I would stay somewhere closer to the river with a more boutique feel if I was on a holiday trip. That being said, if you want to see Budapest on a cheaper budget it's fine. Couple of improvements they should take note of. 1. Breakfast is only ok. Juice machine is basically flavoured water. Cooked breakfast section needs to be better. 2. I asked for an iron and ironing board and was sent to a small room on 7th floor with 1 iron set up in it for the whole hotel. Apparently this is not a joke......but it's pathetic for such a huge hotel. 3. Coffee facilities in the room are very basic. Most hotels try to offer more than a sachet of nescafe now. Also, no bottle of water? That should be a mandatory offering these days. Overall you get what you pay for, but small touches would raise this review to a 4 star.
