My room smelt awful for the whole stay and the lobby atm (the only place I’d used my debit card in months) skimmed my card information and I had fraudulent activity within a week of using it.

I stayed at the Novotel for about 9 days in November. My only complaint was the bedding. There are no mattress pads on the beds, just a sheet over a bare mattress. And then there is no top sheet, just a duvet in a duvet case with a sheet on top of it. It felt like the hygiene levels were not what I expect at a business hotel. I requested additional sheets to place a bit more distance between me and dust mites, bacteria, and whatever else builds up over time on a hotel bed.
