Mix up over dinner spoiled our stay

We checked in to the hotel at around 1700 and were asked if we wanted to make a reservation for dinner but it would have to be at 1900 or after 2000. I replied that 1900 would be fine and I would confirm depending on the menu which I would check when I got to the room. My wife has a delicate stomach but fancied the Fish of the Day. At 1740 I took the dog for a walk and asked the receptionist what was the Fish. She told me that she would have to ask the chef when he came in at 1800. I told her that we would make a reservation when we found out about the fish. She said that was fine as there was still availability. At 1810 my wife phoned to ask about the fish and was told it was cabillaud. However she was also told that the restaurant was now fully booked and we would have to have room service. I appreciate that you are trying to increase revenues by attracting non-guests to the restaurant but the hotel was not full and when I stay in a full service hotel I expect to be able to eat in the restaurant. And how a restaurant can have plenty of availability at 1800 and be fully booked at 1810 is unbelievable.

I booked the hotel when we were on holidays I couldn't believe it when I turned up and the outside of the hotel didn't match the pictures on Google. Was so disappointed and we booked for a special occasion. We were after booking it specifically because of the photos. I wouldn't stay here again for this reason it's not fair it false advertise like that
