The UK's Best Spots for Cocktails with a View

Be it urban rooftop bars or spectacularly-set rural retreats, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to finding great places to sip your favourite cocktails in the UK. In this guide, we’ll highlight seven of the best places for enjoying cocktails with a view.

20 Stories, Manchester
In the heart of Spinningfields, you’ll find the legendary 20 Stories cocktail bar and restaurant. There is a large rooftop terrace and an extensive cocktail list that has been specially created to reflect the city of Manchester. You’ll be able to experiment and try cocktails you’ve never heard of before, such as the MCR Champagne Cocktail which fuses Three Rivers Gin with vanilla and black cherry puree, fresh lemon juice and champagne.
Marco Pierre White Champagne Bar, Birmingham
If you want to enjoy your drinks with a 360-degree view of Birmingham city’s skyline, take a trip to Marco Pierre White Champagne Bar. It’s on the 25th floor of The Cube and seats at the bar are available on a first come, first served basis. Their champagne cocktails are hugely popular and the whole setting is very luxurious, making it a go-to place for celebrities in the area.
Alto by San Carlo, London
If you’re staying in West London, head to Alto by San Carlo in Selfridges. The views from this rooftop Italian themed restaurant are spectacular and it’s a great place to enjoy dinner too. You can easily spend a couple of hours enjoying yourself on the al fresco sun terrace, surrounded by beautiful greenery.
Madison Terrace Bar and Lounge, London
In East London, one of the best place to go is Madison Terrace Bar and Lounge. You’ll be blown away by the incredible views of St Paul’s Cathedral and the atmosphere is buzzing. The cocktails menu is extensive and includes contemporary twist cocktails such as Under the Tree, a banana infused rum with a hint of lemon and sugar, topped with tropical pineapple juice.
Boundary Bar, London
Come rain or shine you can enjoy yourself at Boundary Bar as it’s under cover and there’s a heated rooftop orangery for the colder months. You’ll be able to admire the views over the City and East London to your heart’s content in this trendy rooftop bar.
The food menu changes with the seasons, there’s a Mediterranean feel in the summer and in the winter, a ski-vibe (melting raclette and cheese fondue). The cocktails menu also changes, so there’s hot cocktails in the winter.
Goodness Gracious, Liverpool
When visiting Liverpool, there is nowhere better to enjoy cocktails than at Goodness Gracious which sits above the Oh Me Oh My restaurant. You’ll be able to gaze in wonder at the iconic Liver Birds watching over the city on the Liver building and admire the ferries as they cross the Mersey.
It’s completely open so if the weather is bad, the rooftop will be closed.
Belgrave Music Hall, Leeds
Staying in Leeds? For a rooftop bar that’s relaxed and casual, head to the Belgrave Music Hall. It’s a fun place to catch up with friends and enjoy the party atmosphere. If you get hungry, you could order a pizza or tuck into a burger… it’s the ideal place if you love live gigs and comedy as there’s always something going on. There’s plenty of space in this 1930s venue too as there are three floors.

There you have it, seven great places to go to admire your surroundings while enjoying a cocktail or two. Rooftop terraces are fantastic ways to get a bird’s eye view of a city so make sure you take some photos of your visit to show your friends and family back home.
