Recipes and Tips to shake up Your National Martini Day

Celebrate National Martini Day in Style With Accor Hotels

Simple. Stylish. Sophisticated. The effortlessly swish martini has been flowing in various forms for decades. While the history of the drink is as murky as the dirtiest mix, it’s future is clear – when it comes to cocktails, no amount of fruit, fire, or molecular magic can outshine the martini. National Martini Day takes place on the 19th of June, so settle in – glass in hand – and discover a little more about the iconic tipple before the big event. Discover three of the best martini recipes below and enjoy NMD in style.

First thing’s first, what is a martini?

A traditional martini contains gin and dry vermouth – extremely cold – garnished with a green olive or twist of lemon. Ratios of gin to vermouth can vary depending on personal taste, though the traditional serving is 1:1.
A dry martini contains more gin and less vermouth, while a dirty martini is supplemented with a dash of olive brine. Vodka martinis are now just as popular as their traditional counterpart; vodka replaces gin – it’s that simple!
