The Reception staff were all courteous, professional and friendly. My room was changed quickly when I mentioned that there was quite a lot of noise after 11 p.m. and I really appreciated the 'upgrade' they gave me overlooking the gardens, which was very peaceful, though I didn't ask for it...

Firstly, I hate writing bad reviews. Look at my profile and the rest of my reviews. Secondly, I’m an Accor silver member and always use Accor properties when staying in France, usually about 4-8 times a year. But I’m compelled to write this review as my wife and her friend were scammed out of the two rooms they’d booked by the desk staff. Our neighbour has recently survived cancer and had major surgery. As a treat my wife suggested she take her to Nice for a week. I travelled around the world on business largely using British Airways as my carrier and had a lot of Avios points, so we used them to pay for the trio for my wife and her friend. When booking via the British Airways Avios site, I saw the Mercure in Nice available in an excellent position on the seafront, and as a Silver Accor member and someone who stays in all their brands chose this for their stay. Upon arrival they were told their booking was for one double room not two double rooms. Despite the booking confirmation which they had with them clearly showing “2 x double room” - see photo attached to this review. I deliberately booked two double rooms as my wife’s friend has just got over major surgery and needs a double bed to herself to arrange pillows and certain way to sleep comfortably. When they queried this and explained the situation the hotel manager showed them an alternative- again just one room but this time with twin single beds. This was a) not the two double rooms booked and b) again unsuitable as after surgery our friend needed a bigger bed. So they had to make do in the one double room. They actually loved the hotel for its situation and facilities. But really Accor? Do your staff make a habit of scamming cancer survivors out of their bookings? Tell me - how did this happen?

Very good location for the money. Noisy works from 9 am on the whole floor we lived, they didn’t even prevent us. Cleaning personal also speaking very loudly every morning, so we couldn’t sleep.

Great view, very basic facilities

The hotel is in a good location and the sea view is spectacular however the room on its own is very basic. There was mould present around the a/c vents, cracks in the walls and ceiling, both the WC and the shower had very unpleasant smell. Also the light fixtures were not fixed properly and one of our lights kept flickering. The staff on the other hand was very friendly! And like said before the sea view made the stay unforgettable. Would not stay again unfortunately as the room was well below our standard.
